    Columbus Mega Weekend – Winter 2012 – Vol. 8

    I’m probably sounding like a broken record here, but man(!) where did the week go!  It is already Thursday and that means your weekend is here. Let’s tally up what’s going on. Hope to see you at the CU Meetup at World of Beer tonight! You can get your learnin’ and your drinkin’ on at the Cement Marketing SEO Workshop tonight. St. James Tavern has got a cask of Bell’s Two Hearted Ale to tap tonight and Pitabilities will be there too. 100 Years of Art opens tonight at the Riffe Gallery. COSI is debuting a special evening of film with the Life In A Day. There are shows tonight and tomorrow night. You can head back to COSI on Friday for Family Night or on Saturday for the opening of the exhibit RACE: Are We So Different?. Did you miss last week’s Cabernet Cabaret by the Short North Stage? This week they have singer David Bahgat on Friday and Saturday. Fritz the Nite Owl debuts the Second Season at Studio 35 on Friday and Saturday. Support local children’s book author Carole Amber at her book launch on Saturday at Pistacia Vera. Heat up your weekend at the Clintonville Chili Bowl on Saturday. Then cool off with some classical music and cake at Mozart’s celebration of the 17th Birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Cake Cutting is on Saturday at 5:30pm and Mayor Michael Coleman is the guest of honor. Celebrate the music of Ray Charles with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra on Friday and Saturday. Cinema Latino continues at The Wexner Center through Saturday. The Wex is also opening their Winter Exhibitions with a Public Reception on Friday.  The Gateway Film Center has HOOT Family Film Series on Saturday. O-GEE has their 3 Year Birthday Bash at Barrio Tapas on Saturday. Looks like most of this weekend’s shows of Shadowbox Live’s Body Language are sold out, but you can still get tickets for 10:30pm on Saturday night! Alive’s Bands to Watch is at Skully’s on Saturday. Go see Way Yes, The Swimsuit Edition and The Randys at Carabar on Saturday. There is a Winter Hike on Saturday at Clear Creek. The Good Design in Hard Times Reception is Saturday at 6pm. A Bicentennial Celebration of Columbus Cartoonists opened this week and continues through April 27. Ohayocon comes to town on Friday and lasts through Sunday at the Hyatt Regency Columbus and Convention Center. Go see RENT at Shadowbox Live on Sunday. Enjoy your weekend!
