Columbus Mega Weekend – Fall 2012 – Vol. 2

Happy Weekend everyone! Were you surprised to find out what was hiding in that gift box that showed up Downtown earlier this week? Don’t forget to get your tickets to the Columbus Historical Society’s Annual Gala! Early pricing ends September 15 and gets you a night of classic cuisine and cocktails with gorgeous views of Downtown as the backdrop. Now on to the weekend!

Thursday

Tonight, The Actors’ Theatre begins their production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Columbus Commons. You can also enjoy the first Local Brews and Burgers. Go on a pizza crawl in 5XNW. The Schmidt’s Sausage Truck has a grand opening celebration tonight. Celebrate the 165th Birthday of Clintonville at Vienna Ice Cafe until 10pm. Visit the Thursday Night Food Pod, benefiting Charity Newsies. It’s the final weekend for Waiting for Godot, shows are Thursday through Saturday. The OSU Ice Rink has open skating from 6-8pm. Experience Palissimo at the Wexner Center tonight and Sunday.

Friday

Local artist Boryana Rosenova Ina and friends have a show at the Art Access Gallery in Bexley. Watch the Ohio Roller Girls battle it out in the Regional Competition in Niagara Falls. Happy 9 Years to Pattycake – join them at their party! The Ohio PawPaw Festival begins Friday and goes through Sunday. It’s the final weekend for Best of Shadowbox Live. Visit the Country Living Fair Friday through Sunday. James Blackmon heats up The Green Room with jazz. Head to the North Market for the Microbrew Festival, going on through Sunday. Experience Stream on the Dublin Arts Center grounds Friday and Saturday.

Saturday

The Short North Tour of Homes and Gardens has their preview tour Saturday evening. OSU takes on California. Stop in the Knowlton School of Architecture for the opening of Build It! which tells the story of building the Horseshoe. Take your E-Cycling to ECDI. Try the brunch at Milestone229. Meet celebrated author Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! The Germania Oktoberfest is Saturday and Sunday. Enjoy Independents’ Day at Gay Street and Pearl Alley. RecyColumbus will be at Independents’ Day with info on the program. LeBooM returns to Skully’s with SchoolBoy and Roevy.

Sunday

Go on a Commit to Be Fit Hike in Prairie Oaks. The General Tour of the Short North Tour of Homes and Gardens is from 10am to 6pm. See Chicago at Shadowbox Live. Westgate’s Arts in the Park continues. OTE has another Music in the Garden. Head to Granville for the Homestead Pantry Showcase. Go to Double Happiness for Freshstreet and BlowFly. Get your submissions in to Think Outside the Brick: The Creative Art of LEGO. Go see “Songs for a New Millenium, 1812-2012: Works by Aminah Robinson” at the Columbus Art Museum. Enjoy music in Franklin Park at the Fresh Air Sunset Series. Are you attending the Jorgensen Farm dinner? If you are celebrating Rosh Hashanah, Omega Artisan Bakery will have braided Challah rounds available after 1pm.
