Columbus Mega Summer Weekend – Vol. 7

Happy Scorching Weekend! I hope you’ve all got plans to stay cool (100°!!) and have a great weekend.

Thursday

Downtown Live is back this week at Columbus Commons with Under Cover – Matt Corey Band and Swagg. CAPA’s Summer Movie Series continues tonight through Sunday. St. James Tavern brings back their cask event tonight. The Actor’s Theatre opens The Merchant of Venice tonight in Schiller Park and has shows through Sunday. You can still see Scapin tonight through Saturday. It’s the final evening of Cinema 614 at the Wexner Center. See Burlesque de Voyage at Shadowbox Live.

Friday

MORPC celebrates Riverfest at COSI. COSI is also celebrating Dads & Kids with free admission in the evening. The Drexel starts their Summer Kids Fest Friday and Saturday with The Muppet Movie. It’s the final weekend for the BIA Parade of Homes, go there Friday or Saturday for a Food Truck Festival. Head to Bike Night at Michael’s Goody Boy Diner. City Hop is taking a new turn this year with a progressive dinner through downtown clubs. Go to a dance party at Skylab. The Gateway Film Center has the Columbus premiere of Your Sister’s Sister. It’s the final evening to see multi-layered abstract print paintings by Jeanie Coy Auseon in the OSU Faculty Club. Carabar has a free show Friday night. Music on the Scioto Mile during Rhythm on the River presenting Sean Carney Band with Special Guest Shaun Booker. Dark Woods Theatre has Evil Dead the Musical Friday and Saturday. The Powell Festival is Friday and Saturday. See art by Jesse Chandler of The Ukulele Cowboy Society in her 30th Anniversary Retrospective show, “My Unified Field” at the Jung Haus.

Saturday

Have breakfast at Dinin’ Hall from 10am to 1pm. Color the Hills at The Hills Market. Cafe Brioso is hosting a Barista Jam. Cheer on the Columbus Crew against Real Salt Lake and watch the fireworks. See an Aussie Rules Football match in Dublin. Picnic with the Pops at Columbus Commons. O-GEE is at Sidebar122. Go to Grandview for the Grandview Hop. CS Gallery is having an artist reception for the Photography exhibit. Alive’s Summer Music Tour continues on Saturday at Ace of Cups. Go to the Yelp on Two Wheels Food Truck Bike Rally on Saturday. MadLab Presents: 48 Bicentennial – (48 Hour theatre in two acts) Saturday and Sunday. The Clippers also have fireworks Saturday night and games through Sunday.

Sunday

The Tour de Grandview cycles through Grandview. Go listen to Capital University Chapel Choir rehearse for their upcoming spot at the World Choir Games. Food Truck Hop at Hal & Al’s on Sunday. Only two more shows left of Reefer Madness at Shadowbox Live. Shop at Artisan Sunday at the North Market.

Have fun if you are going to the Bicentennial Red, White & Boom on Tuesday! Huntington Park and COSI have parties going if you’d like to be less crowded. Don’t forget you can stay at the Arena Grand and catch a movie for $5. They will have Spiderman.
