    Columbus Mega Summer Weekend 2013 – Vol. 3

    It’s going to be a hot weekend! Spring is getting pushed out and summer is rushing in. Go watch the Clippers, Friday through the weekend, as they take on the Indianapolis Indians. The Cultural Arts Center is looking for volunteers during the Columbus Arts Festival. If you were wanting a chance to win tickets to the Dropkick Murphys or Passion Pit shows, courtesy Promowest, get your entries in.

    Thursday

    The Downtown Live Summer Concert series in Columbus Commons kicks off with Philip Fox Band and MojoFlo. The Franklin Park Conservatory presents Cocktails at the Conservatory with a Latin flavor. DrinkUp Columbus celebrates two years with a party. Comedy Tonight at the Green Room features Jason Clemmer, Matt Horn and Anthony O’Connell. There a clearance sale happening at the Wexner Center Store, you’ve got to be a member to get the discounts! It’s the last week to see the Columbus Civic Theatre’s Life is a Dream. EVO Theatre continues A Woman of No Importance. Actors’ Theatre continues in Schiller Park. Available Light Theatre’s next stage initiative, Transplant, is tonight and Saturday. See Viva Vagina at Shadowbox Live. The Memorial Tournament continues. The Nelsonville Music Festival begins tonight and goes through Sunday.

    Commons for Kids starts at Columbus Commons on Friday morning. Summer Fridays at the Statehouse begin with Opera Columbus doing a concert performance of La Bohéme. Enjoy Champagne under the Stars at the Refectory. Available Light Theatre continues performances of Jane Eyre through Sunday. DRAUMA takes over the Bluestone. A Passion for Fire closes at Gallery 831 with the Grub Gallery food truck. New toy store Big Fun opens in the Short North. Friends of the Bexley Public Library are hosting a book sale through Sunday. Lindsay Gallery is hosting an artist reception for Wallace Peck’s show. It’s Blues Night at Columbus Commons. Dance party GROOVE is back at Exile. See Aminah Robinson’s Journey from the Blackberry Patch to Poindexter Village at the Hammond Harkins Gallery. Carpe Diem String Quartet and Columbus Dance Theatre present A Midsummer Night’s Dream Friday and Saturday. Gahanna’s free music in the park begins Friday with Lone Raven. Forest and the Evergreens play at Brothers Drake.

    Saturday

    The Hills Downtown has $5 Pancake Breakfasts. Visit Upper Arlington for their Family Bikefest. Go shopping at the Short North Yard Sale. It’s also Gallery Hop in the Short North. Members can enjoy a preview of the Pizzuti Collection (sign up in person if you’d like!). See artist Michael Bush’s new show at Image Optical. Circus has a new Gallery Hop after party beginning. The Old Oaks Neighborhood has an evening home and garden tour. Green Lawn Abbey hosts a Movie Under the Stars with The King of Kings. Alternative Fashion Week begins with a progressive fashion show. The Gateway Film Center plays Secret of Nimh as a part of their children’s summer movie series. The Columbus Commons is showing Crazy Stupid Love outdoors. Kids can sail a miniature sailboat at Easton. The Crew takes on the Houston Dynamo. Heatwave dance party is at Ace of Cups.

    Sunday

    A new bike race, the Tour of Franklinton Race & Rally will be taking it to the streets of -you guessed it- Franklinton. See 100 years of the JCC’s history. Artisan Sunday continues at the North Market. Mad Men shows at the Gateway Film Center. Get your dad a Big Green Egg (on sale!). Shadowbox Live opens the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Swap and Save Seeds at City Folk’s Farm Shop. Sign up to be a volunteer for the Jazz Arts Group.
