Sunday, September 21st is technically the last day of summer. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be plenty to do during the cooler months in Columbus, but it does mean that it’s time to go spend all weekend out and about at a huge variety of events! Besides, after all of these power outage issues all week, I’m sure everyone is ready to get out and have some fun!
The Riverfront Arts Festival (formerly known as the Goodale Park Art Festival) will feature over 150 artists and run all weekend long at Genoa Park by COSI. It will also include the final Waterfire lighting of the season.
Friday – Park(ing) Day kicks off your Friday by setting up several public parks in parking spots around town.
Saturday – Independent’s Day will take place on Gay Street Downtown all day long on Saturday. Over 100 booths of artists, crafters, and vendors, two stages of music, performance arts, panel discussions, and more. The India Festival will also be held all day Saturday at the Vets Memorial and feature food, entertainment, and cultural performances.
Sunday – The Victorian Village Tour of Homes enters it’s 34th year on Sunday and showcases 10 of the best homes in the neighborhood.
The Wexner Center’s Warhol exhibit had it’s grand opening and probably continue to be pretty crowded this weekend. This is also your last full weekend to get in a movie at the Drexel Grandview before it closes on the 27th. Be sure to swing by for one last flick.
So there you have it… a wide variety of exciting events to close out our summer. Enjoy your weekend, Columbus!

FYI
Due to the extraordinary weather/power situation, we are postponing the “Movie Night with David Robinson” fundraiser scheduled for this Friday 9/19.
Hopefully we can find a date in early October that works for the campaign and the studio. Meanwhile, please visit http://www.robinson2008.com for the latest campaign news and events.
Oops. Removed it from the original post. Thanks for the catch. My eyes must have glazed over and I read it as being moved TO the 19th. ;)
Apparently there is also a local celebration of Talk Like a Pirate Day on Saturday. I’d write something pirate-y but I just want to get off-line now and go home.
