American Style Magazine released their annual readers poll results to highlight the top arts destination cities in the US. Back in January we asked you all to vote for Columbus, but we still managed to drop from #10th place in 2008 to #17 place this year.
Of course, New York City took first place in the poll for the sixth year in a row. Cleveland and Cincinnati also made appearances in the list to represent Ohio. Are there any other surprises in the rankings, or cities that you’re surprised to see left out? You can view the entire results of the survey by clicking here.

To be honest I can see all of the cities that ranked above us having valid art scenes.
That’s really great news. I just think it’s funny that Columbus is ranked in the “Big City†category with cities like Cleveland, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, St. Louis and Miami (?) ranking in the “Mid-Size City†category.
The rankings are based on city population and not region population:
By city population:
Columbus – 747,755
Cleveland – 438,042
Miami – 424,662
Minneapolis – 377,392
St. Louis – 355,663
Cincinnati – 332,458
By metro area population:
Miami – 5,414,772
Minneapolis – 3,229,878
St. Louis – 2,816,710
Cincinnati – 2,155,137
Cleveland – 2,088,291
Columbus – 1,773,120
