    Guide to Farmers Markets Around Columbus – 2017

    If you don’t grow your own food or already support a CSA, local Farmers Markets give you a chance to get some of the best home grown food around. Here’s an updated 2017 list for you to get the best produce grown here in Columbus and our surrounding areas. Happy Hunting!

    400 Market. Every 2nd Friday from 7pm to 10pm, coincides with Franklinton Fridays.  This market may not have lots of fresh produce, but does promise to have: “locally-produced: artisan baked goods, chocolates, & more; a variety of work from our in-house artists; hand-crafted jewelry, candles, soaps and more; vintage clothes & home goods; and more.”

    All Life Community Market, Held June 1st through October 26th on Thursdays, from 4pm-7pm. The All Life Community Market brings together local farmers and vendors with integrity around local sustainability, natural and healthy gardening practices and supportive small business culture. This market is a forum for educating the public about these practices. The market is held on the south side of ALC’s property across the ravine from the All Life Center. You are welcome to park at the center and enjoy a walk across the boardwalk and ravine bridge. There is also ample parking off 23 by the market as well.

    Athens Farmers’ Market. A bit of a drive, but this one is great. “Our farmers and producers provide the absolute best food for area shoppers all year round! What began as a handful of farmers selling their produce is now a community event showcasing farmers, orchardists, specialty food producers, bakers, horticulturalists, cheese makers and many other food-based entrepreneurs.” The market is open Saturdays Year-round from 9am-12pm; on Wednesdays from 9am-12pm, running April through December; and on Thursdays from 4pm-7pm running May to September.     Bexley Farmers’ Market, Intersection of Dawson and Main Streets, Thursdays from 4-7pm, May 18 – October. Locally grown produce, meats and cheeses, children’s events, food demonstrations. Like them on Facebook. Follow on twitter.

    Bexley Natural Market, 508 N. Cassady Ave. in their parking lot. Farmers’ Market, Wednesdays 3pm-7pm, starting mid-May and going through November. Like them on Facebook.

    Blendon Township Farmers’ Market, – cancelled for 2016 due to repaving and road construction, most likely will return in 2017.

    Canal Market District, Located at 24 E. Walnut St., Newark, Ohio 43055. Farmers Market returns on Friday, May 5. Hours 4pm-7pm Tuesday & Friday. Arts & Crafts Market hours 10am-3pm on the select Saturdays of the Month: May 13, June 3, July 22, August 5, September 9, October 1, with a Christmas Market November 24. Shop from 60 of Central Ohio’s BEST local food producers and vendors. First farmers market in Licking County to accept EBT, WIC Farm Market Nutrition Program, and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program coupons. They will also have food trucks, live music, eductaional programs, community organizations. Like them on Facebook.

    Canal Winchester Farmers Market, Downtown at 36 S. High St., Saturdays from 9am-12pm, May 27 through September 24 (rain or shine). One of central Ohio’s longest running outdoor markets, the Canal Winchester Farmers’ Market runs Saturday mornings from May 27 through September 30 (rain or shine). Hours are from 9am-12pm. The market will be closed on July 29 to accomodate the Canal Winchester Blues & Ribfest, and September 2 for the Canal Winchester Labor Day Festival.

    Clintonville Farmers’ Market. 2017 marks the 15th season of the Clintonville Farmers’ Market! And April 29 marks the opening day of outdoor Saturday markets along North High Street, between Orchard Lane and W. Dunedin Road. Join us from 9am-Noon for seasonal, locally-produced, freshly-harvested Ohio food and lots of fun. The market runs 30 weeks this year, every Saturday through November 18. Ride your bike to market and park bikes, wagons, and strollers at the Baer Wheels Bike Corral. Visit the market information table to exchange debit card and Ohio Direction Cards EBT/SNAP for market tokens. Producers with eligible items accept VeggieSNAP tokens and WIC coupons.
