Coleman Government Center is Nearly Open for Business

City and civic leaders gathered yesterday to christen the new eight-story City of Columbus office building at 111 N. Front St. as the Michael B. Coleman Government Center, named after the city’s most recent former mayor.

“Much of the city’s success today can be traced directly to the courage and leadership of Mayor Coleman,” stated current Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther. “His vision catapulted Columbus to a top-tier city. I am proud to name the newest Downtown building after him.”

The new building provides city employees with 180,000 square feet of office space to serve as a “one-stop shop” for citizens seeking services from the four departments of Building & Zoning Services, Public Service, Development and a portion of Public Utilities. Those four departments are expected to begin moving into the building next month.

“I always dreamed of Columbus having a Downtown campus of city government buildings,” stated Coleman yesterday. “Not only is that vision becoming a reality, but it will bear my name. I simply do not have the words to express my gratitude.”
