So, a few of you (or more) know a bit about this upcoming magazine because I’ve been talking it up for a while, but I thought I’d put the word out a bit more. First, a disclaimer…I am not employed by the magazine, have no interest in the magazine. A friend of mine, Scott Cunningham who is a tremendous photographer with a lot of time spent here in the city, is working with his team to put this out. It actually is different on several fronts than a lot of what’s been published and continues to be around town (not BETTER, DIFFERENT!), and a lot of what’s different was appealing to me. While the primary focus is still Columbus, it goes well beyond that through travel sections, photography, etc. The photography itself is exceptional, which you’d expect coming from a photographer, but contributions from people like Steve Vaccariello in addition to Scott really set a whole new standard. I’ll quit selling and let you look for yourself: CMHMag.com and join the Facebook group here.
Most people here know me enough to know, I really haven’t ever used this site to promote anything…in like, what, 6000 posts?…so for me to do it, means I’m a believer. Check it out, feedback is encouraged, because I know that one of those hundreds of lurkers out there who doesn’t post but reads is Scott, and he truly wants to hear it.
Again, this is not only a friend of mine, but it’s a project I really believe in, or I wouldn’t be posting.

BTW…apparently that’s 11,000 posts…holy shit…I really spend way too much time on the internet.
haha, aww come on, you know how many posts you have!! :)
I really didn’t know it was that high…although I felt better after I averaged it to 9 or 10 a day for over 3 years, which is about right.
I’ve had the opportunity to sit down with Scott and flip though the sample copy he’s put together (which is also available on the site in the first post), and I agree that it’s a pretty nice magazine. The photography is top notch and the format is nice and clean.
As long as the articles shine through with an authentic local voice, I can see myself making it a point to pick this up every month to read through.
I love the cover!!! Captivating. Nice.
Hate this mock ad, unless it’s a mock ad for mock breasts, and even then, it’s a bit much.
I want our company to have this in our reception area. I read about the photographer…he is VERY good.
Why?
.
This is a magazine that would make me want to come check out Columbus. It would look perfect in the rooms at The Lofts.
I think it looks brilliant. Very sophisticated, with nary an OSU sweatshirt in sight. I find that extraordinarily refreshing.
Why?
Your appreciation for a shot of frame-filling knockers may vary.
I saw the sample and now understand what Cookie is talking about….
I appreciate beautiful cleavage when tastefully photographed. There is no face or anything else…sexy not trashy.
I am really excited about this magazine……I wish for my picture to be taken by that photographer. He is so good.
That bra would make a great space to advertise. There’s enough room there to put a few ads and I’d read them all every month.
That’s funny, because it was the Ayn Rand quote on the opposite page that turned me off.
…kwips [sic] aside, I expect there’s a lot of people who will be really excited to see Columbus portrayed this way.
Ha, I missed that!
Because boobies.
Like it or not, that’s a pretty accurate recreation of an Aubade ad, which I’m guessing was the idea.
The ONLY thing that bothered me was the wedding dress ad…the model has horrible posture….I just really like this magazine–an accurate image of Columbus.
I like it a lot. The look is slick and modern – maybe a little to undressed, but very polished. Like the architectural content and the restaurant content. I’d be a little wary about tying editorial to advertisers too closely, or credibility starts getting lost.
The only gripe I have is – for God’s sake, why does Columbus need more pages of photos of people at parties and fundraisers? This one has TWO spreads of that dreck. I am sick of looking at these vapid people with their dead eyes. If this pub is for people who like that stuff, then it’s definitely not for me.
my guess is that it would be places and people you don’t necessarily see in other pubs, and I do know that it’s definitely not the focus of the magazine from talking to Scott. That said, it seems like a little of it is required content, even Columbus Monthly has had it for decades.
BTW, for a fun little flashback, the cover model, Bridget, you may remember as the winking face on all the Functional Furnishing trucks and promotional material.
