Just wanted to say thank you for your support it is really appreciated and I will be gone, but still very much interested in Downtown Columbus.

I will be open until Feb 28, so please tell all your friends there is good deals to be had especially if they are of smaller sizes for men and women.

anyway, should people walk? in general, yes. it’s hard to argue that now when everything is covered with ice and crap, but yes

will they walk? in general? not downtown, not yet…

I’ve seen this go on for years, and I think it’s going to have to go for a few more..

as for me, I’ll bike on down.. :-)

But yeah. Today’s the first day of the sale. Anyone plan on stopping in. I got an email from Terry this morning reminding us that all fixtures need to go to, for any business owners looking for cheap features for their own stores.

also, i was on their website and saw they opened at 11am. I wasn’t really there for the sale, i just wanted to come by.

Absolutely agree, despite the reasons, it’s sad to see a small business close, particularly one that seemed to be run by such a good guy with great intentions.

I have to say I’m really really crushed. Terry is more than a business partner and neighbor he is a very good friend of ours.

He was basically the creative driving force behind the group of us banding together, so it’s quite a blow to be losing him. He helped reinvigorate us just when we were losing Johnson’s (a huge loss for us as we fed each other footraffic for decades). I doubt there ever would have been a Red Brick District without him.

There is a lot more to say regarding parking’s importance ,one way streets, downtown, the worst retail environment everywhere since the great depression etc all that,

but for now I’m just sad my friend is leaving :-(

Sad to see a retailer closing up downtown. We need everything down there we can.

(And I’ll desperately try to stay out of the other conversation. I don’t think Walker wants every thread turned into a pissing contest between bike/bus/walking vs. car.)

I have got to agree with Core here.
There are many different lifestyles in this wonderful city some Bike some drive etc. The city is not fat because people like there cars to suggest that is funny but not true.
But I guarantee you can’t fit my places I need to be and times into a non-car situation it’s not possible. I am a firm believer that anything is possible but this is not . Maybe further down the line when we have light rails it will become easier to be car free. That’s what I hope although I enjoy taking trips out of town so I will always have a car. ;)

P.S. the anti car mentality is so easy for people under 30 without kids to lug around or a job that requires them to be out of office. I realize that you think you’re speaking some great truth, but the simple fact is you’re speaking a truth that doesn’t actually apply to the majority of people in the city. Have a couple kids and tell me how much you don’t need a car or a parking lot close to where you’re going. Suffer from arthritis and tell me to just stand in a COTA stop in the rain and wait. Not trying to be overly condescending to either your or Keith, but both of you need to live a little more life before you start trying to explain to everyone else how to live theirs.

LOL…dude, I walk all the time, I hate driving (and I’m almost 40). I bought the car I have now for a dollar because I’m opposed to spending money on them. That said, if I needed a storefront for my business that was dependent on selling goods to walk in business, I wouldn’t base a business plan that relied on clients from COTA, bikes and pedestrians. If you’d like to try that though, go for it. let me know how it works out.
