“This theatre has been an extremely popular destination serving Columbus, Dublin, Upper Arlington and Hilliard since it opened its doors in May of 1991,” stated Cinemark CEO Mark Zoradi in a press release issued last year. “With the renovation and the addition of our new Luxury Lounger recliners, which feature electric-powered, plush, oversized lounge chairs with footrests and cup holders, customers will enjoy an enhanced entertainment experience.”

Affectionally known to many as “The Dollar Theater,” the Carriage Place Cinemark was home to second-run films during its earlier years when standard pricing was just one dollar and every Tuesday was 50 cent night. Today, the theater is now showing first run films with an admission price of $8 for adults and $5 Tuesday discounts.

Originally, the renovations were announced in early 2016 and were scheduled for completion the holiday movie-going season last year. Instead, the renovations were shifted to 2017 with six of the 12 theaters now being completed and the remaining six expected to be finalized by mid-November.
