“This idea has always been something in the back of my mind, ever since CoGo,” said co-founder Heather Bowden-Ebright, who formerly served as the GM of the CoGo Bike Share, as well as Bike Coordinator for the Ohio Department of Transportation. “We always seek out bike tours in other cities, and we started doing research on it as I’ve always thought there would be a pretty good market for it in Columbus.”

Bowden-Ebright said that she and her husband Jamie Ebright — who is also a co-founder of the new business — recently returned from a trip to San Francisco where they experienced a really great bike tour.

“After that I knew we’ve got do this, and it’s got to be now,” said Bowden-Ebright. “I really think this will be a good opportunity for Columbus — for both visitors and residents — who want to check out the different neighborhoods and get the insider’s view.”

The central location of CBUS Bike Tours lends itself well to being able to start tours headed in any direction to visit The Short North, German Village, Olde Towne East and all of Downtown. Bowden-Ebright said that they’ll certainly have tours that feature the Scioto Mile, Scioto Greenways and the Columbus bike trail system as well.

We can also host bigger groups that want do their own thing, or plan a social ride or scavenger hunt event,” she stated, mentioning that a group of eight is an optimal size and the various tours will likely range from $55 to $65 per person.

CBUS Bike Tours is planning a ribbon cutting event on June 1st with tour options rolling out throughout the summer.
