CAPA has announced the lineup for the Summer Movie Series. Billed as the longest-running movie series in America, all movies take place in the historic Ohio Theatre. This year’s lineup includes fourteen series premieres, a silent film with musical accompaniment – Clark Wilson with the magnificent “Mighty Morton” theatre organ, two Saturday mornings filled with cartoons, and a Friday night double-feature with Fritz the Nite Owl on July 25 with The Return of the Vampire (1944) and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931). Organist David Fleischer will also provide live organ accompaniment at select screenings.
Tours of the Ohio Theatre will be offered these dates: June 7, June 28, July 12, and August 2, at 4 pm each day. Tours are free, you must rsvp by sending an email with the number of people in your party and your preferred tour date. Tours do include stairs.
Summer Movie Series ticket strips are on sale now through Sunday, July 27, at the CAPA Ticket Center (39 E. State St.) or ticketmaster.com. Strips of 10 tickets are $25, a savings of $1.50 per ticket off day-of-show prices. Phone orders for strip tickets can be placed by calling (614) 469-0939. Strip tickets are good for any film in any combination.
Young people between the ages of 13-18 may purchase a $5 Summer Movie Series pass as part of the All Access program. The pass admits the young person to an unlimited number of movie screenings during the 2014 season and can be purchased online. Students who wish to attend an R rated film must be accompanied by an adult.
If you decide to go on the day-of-show tickets to individual films are $4 and go on sale one hour prior to show time at the Ohio Theatre kiosk. Senior citizen tickets are $3.50. Kiosk sales are cash only.
All tickets are general admission and seating is on a first come, first served basis.
