Last December, Brioso Coffee owner Jeff Davis announced plans to open a second Downtown roasting/cafe facility in the Discovery District area, with hopes to have it operational this summer. The opening has now been officially pushed back to Winter 2014/2015 and a crowdfunding campaign has been launched to raise an additional $20,000 toward the project.

“We need your help to raise a small portion of the funds to make our new concept successful,” states the campaign information on Fundable.com. “The new location will feature an open floor plan designed to engage customers in the coffee creation process and will feature a viewable roasting area, experimental coffee laboratory and an open cupping station. The space will be designed to seat up to 50 patrons and will immerse customers in the bean to cup process.”

Project donors will receive rewards that range from invitations to the preview launch party to private classes to on-site espresso machine catering services.

Cafe Brioso is also planning to grow westward to Franklinton this fall, with a smaller coffee service located inside the new Glass Axis facility.
