Buckeye Hall of Fame Grill Comes to Grandview Yard

By: Walker

According to an article in today’s Dispatch, the Buckeye Hall of Fame Grill will be coming soon to Grandview Yard. The new venue is not to be confused with the Buckeye Hall of Fame Cafe, which was recently closed to make way for a new six-story hotel development. The new Buckeye Hall of Fame Grill will be a much smaller venue, contain some of the memorabilia from the Cafe, but will operate under different ownership and management. The Grill is aiming for a September 1st opening date.

  • good move making it smaller.

the old location reminded me too much of dave&buster’s

  • I’m just curious as to whether or not the mandatory valet policy makes it over to the new location. If so, I don’t think I’ll ever go.

  • At up to 8500 sf, it won’t be small….but certainly more cozy than the old 50,000 sf monstrosity.  I’m usually not a fan of these types of places, but this sounds like the perfect way to generate regional interest in the Yard and get it off on the right foot.  Slap the name “Buckeye” on anything and idiots will come from all over Central Ohio to check it out.

  • Perhaps I am misreading the article, but the new sports bar is unaffiliated with the closed bar on 315. They are buying some memorabilia from the old place, but there is no other connection between the two places. The Buckeye Hall of Fame Grill is unrelated to the Buckeye Hall of Fame Cafe.

  • My stomach seized until I realized only part of the name and some of the memorabilia are related.  I had the worst food poisoning of my life from the original establishment.  I’d give an improved kitchen and better service a try in a heartbeat, although I still don’t get most of the OSU rituals associated with sports fandom.

  • UGH! The Buckeyes….

  • +1 w/ Walker. I always got one of the few non-valet spots but that was ridiculous in general…

  • deraj1013 – Thanks for the clarification. My eyes must have glazed over when I first read it. Updated the original post.

  • Not a problem…my impeccable copy editing skills come in handy from time to time!

  • So what is the restaurant layout going to look like?  What I mean is, is this going to have multiple entrances with one facing Goodale Blvd?  Also, will the Hyatt have it’s own restaurant?

  • Does anyone know if this is still on track for the sept. 1 opening?

  • I haven’t heard anything about it lately. Will see if I can find out.

  • I’m pretty excited about this and I remember Brian Ellis saying the target opening date was the Penn State game ….. i wonder how close they are to being open for business.

I think people who come in town for games and stay at the new Hyatt will love having this right by them.

The daily specials are written on the same chalkboard that legendary Ohio State football coach Woody Hayes used to outline winning plays.

Some of the tables are made from redwood locker-room benches used in Ohio Stadium in the 1920s. Two of the original wrought-iron gates from the stadium grace the walls. And one of Archie Griffin’s two Heisman Trophies is on display in a glass case.
