    Brunch Preview: Bourbon Cherry Waffles, Stuffed French Toast & More

    Brunch lovers rejoice! Columbus Underground’s popular event Best Bites: Brunch is returning for a second year. The epic breakfast for dinner party brings together local restaurants and producers to show off their finest fare. Don’t miss your opportunity to get in the on action, tickets are expected to sell out! As always, we are sharing a sneak peek of the treats you can try.

    Taste of Belgium is a Belgium-inspired eatery in the North Market. Founder and creator Jean-François Flechet draws on his Belgian heritage of to create a one-of-a-kind, Belgian-inspired, locally-infused culinary experience. Starting out with a 120 pounds cast iron waffle maker Fletchet brought to the U.S., Taste of Belgium has expanded to include multiple locations with extraordinary creations for guests to enjoy. At Best Bites: Brunch, Taste of Belgium will be serving up mini Bourbon Cherry Waffles: their classic Liège Belgian waffle topped with bourbon cherries, whipped cream and cocoa.     Drunch Eatery + Bar is soon to be one of the latest additions to Columbus’ Brunch scene. Drunch is a collaboration between Chef Dustin Brafford, formally of The Crest, and his business partner Danisa Suta. They promise to give Brunch lovers a fresh take on food influenced by Suta’s Eastern European upbringing. Set for a grand opening in May, guests will get to try an exclusive sneak peak of their menu at this event. They will be dishing out a Burnt Orange Creme Brûlée Stuffed French Toast.     What the Waffle derived from owner Gayle’s passion for brunch, which her family considers to be the best meal of the day. She asked, why not take the quintessential weekend meal and convert it into a breakfast sandwich with a twist? What the Waffle replaces the bread in breakfast sandwiches with Belgian waffles and serves them alongside other breakfast favorites. As a social enterprise, What the Waffle donates profits to females who are aging out of the foster system through a group home. At Best Bites: Brunch, they will be featuring Sweet G’s Sweet Potato Muffin: a baked fresh daily muffin made with sweet potatoes from North Carolina and pure vanilla that give this muffin flavor that will delight your taste buds.     CBC Restaurant in the Brewery District has been showcasing upscale brewpub foods for nearly twenty years, but some fans of the eatery may not even realize they serve up a weekend brunch with the same flair. To wash it all down, you can choose from a rotating list of beers on tap, five Bloody Marys, a fizzy menu and wide-ranging list of cocktails. At Best Bites: Brunch they will be featuring a Triple Bacon Spoon Bread with maple bacon jam and honey pork rind butter.     Best Bites: Brunch will take place on the evening of Thursday, April 20th from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. at the Ohio History Connection. Tickets to the event will include bite-sized brunch samples of signature dishes from our restaurant vendors, coffee from Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea, admission to the exhibits at the Ohio History Connection and live entertainment. Trapped Columbus will help capture the night’s festivities with an open air photo booth. All ticket holders will be able to print and share the night’s memories!

    To top it all off, there will be curated cash bar with Micheladas, mimosas and more — featuring Modelo Especial and Modelo NegraChloe Wines and Specialty Cocktails by St. Brendan’s. Plus, while you’re brunchin’ away, DJ Charles Erickson will be providing live entertainment all night.

    Advance tickets to the event are available now for $30 which give each guest full access to the event from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Early bird ticket holders will get exclusive access to the event at 6 p.m. for an extra hour of brunch goodness, and will be the first in line to try each sample. Parking is free. As always, each ticket gives guests the opportunity to vote for their favorite brunch of the night!

    A portion of the proceeds from all ticket sales will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio. The Columbus Underground Best Bites event series have collectively raised over $25,000 for local charities since August 2014.
