Local pretzel favorite Brēzel will be expanding to Cincinnati with a new store in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. The shop is the second location for Brēzel, and the first stand alone store.
“I feel in love with this area of Cincinnati when I first visited OTR (Over-the-Rhine) last year,” says owner Brittany Baum. “It reminds me of the Short North about 10 years ago when restaurants and boutiques were just starting to pop up. The vibe of the community is great…creative, diverse people in an architecturally beautiful area.”
She’s been looking to open a second location for over a year, and Cincinnati became a serious option for the hand-rolled Bavarian-style pretzel company this spring.
“We need to update plumbing, electricity, ventilation, etc, and are hoping to be opening early fall to participate in all the Oktoberfest festivities,” she says.
The store will be located at 6 W. 14th Street, behind Graeter’s on Vine Street and in close proximity to their North Market neighbors Taste of Belgium who’s Over-the-Rhine location is at 1135 Vine Street. Washington Park is also nearby. The new store will also be near another Columbus favorite, HOMAGE who announced an expansion to Cincinnati in May of 2014.
“With our new location, we’re looking to create a friendly, neighborhood shop where will people will swing by on their way to/from work, stop in before heading to the park, and eat an important bite late night after the bar,” says Baum.
