Breakfast Review: Taste of Belgium

“Oh, here we go a-waffling…” As usual, I’m just now getting around to visiting Taste of Belgium, despite it opening months ago in North Market. Taste of Belgium was a great addition to North Market’s already-diverse crowd of food stalls. I was excited to hear of it’s arrival, and shame on me that it’s taken so long to get here.

  • Bought some for my mom and my brother. They’re big fans now and based on the response I’ll have to try it for myself.

  • Haven’t tried them yet. Almost gave me a heart attack when I walked in and thought Lac Viet as gone.

  • I was really skeptical when I first heard about these. How good can a waffle really be, right? My mind was changed when I had one. They’re sugary sweet, soft on the inside, and caramelized on the outside. No toppings required. To me they seem more like a dessert than a breakfast item, but I can’t imagine they would taste bad during any time of day. GOOD stuff. :D

  • You’re absolutely right, Walker! And they really are a dessert item, but I just used the breakfast excuse to go eat and review them! :)

  • I usually just tell people it’s sort of a revelation. After a bite you say to yourself, “Oh, THIS is what a waffle is supposed to be like. All these years I’ve been eating the simulacra of waffles…” Ok, so maybe you won’t use the word “simulacra” but you get my drift.
