Bill Yerkes is at it again. After a brief hiatus from making traditional Napoli-style pizzas, Yerkes is again ready to put a pie in your face.

Yerkes is subletting Eleni-Christina Bakery in the evenings for his latest pizza enterprise, bonoTOGO (as in “to go”) — just in time for the Gallery Hop on Saturday. Although the place’s address is 641 N. High St., the storefront actually faces Russell Street, about 60 feet west of the main drag.

What a great idea- bakery during the morning/afternoon and pizza joint in the evening. Menus for this place were taped above the mailboxes where I live last night. Selection and prices look great. I hope it works out for them.

    …?

    Who, me?

  • I wish Bono Togo was open tonight…. le sigh.

I wonder if they keep tabs on this thread. I can’t think of when I’ve seen such a food juggernaut (here’s something nerdy – I realized I didn’t know how to spell juggernaut, and it turns out it comes from a Hindi word for Vishnu?! Sorry, I’m an etymology dork).

I’ve never seen so many people looking forward to Wednesdays!! I love it!

Thanks for coming to the Short North, bono!

PS, for the person inquiring about veggie pizzas, there are lots. So far I’ve had the Hulk (good, full of veggies w/pesto base), 4 cheese (really good), carmelized onion one, puttano, and I think something else. They were all good. A vegetarian will have no troubles. As a matter of fact, our first 5 pizzas there were vegetarian, and finally I said “we have to try one with meat!” So don’t worry.

  • I had the Bianca last night and enjoyed it. The tricky part with that one is too much Gorgonzola would overpower it and they used just enough. Next for me is probably the Cippolini (caramelized onions) or the Cherry Bomb since I love the really hot peppers like scotch bonnets, etc.

    No, silly, not you.

  • I had it for the first time the other night. It is as advertised. I won’t rehash the details, but I will add that I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere.

somertimeoh wrote Too busy last night to get my birthday dinner, sooooo bummed!! I guess the secret is out on this place, it was packed. Good for them, bad for me

Can we please get a real location soon!?!

You gotta give that place a chance! Those tables opened up shortly after you guys left.

That sidewalk charm is part of the experience. They might loose that if they relocate. I think they are in a perfect spot right where they are.

I agree. The other night, my brother and I went, ordered our pizza and tables cleared up right as our food came out.

With the nice weather grabbing a table outside, sitting on the steps or stumbling a few blocks to Goodale park isn’t a problem for most people. I too find this aspect charming. Contrary to the name there have been a few complaints that Bono doesn’t travel well. I wonder if the lack of indoor seating will pose a problem for Bono come winter.

    Winter. Meh. Should be outlawed.

Maybe they will get one of those smokers tents like the big patio bars have

Or maybe some sort of liquor infused pizza that keeps you warm.

Anyway, I am heading to BONOTOGO in a few minutes for my fix. Cowboy up!

  • I finally made it here and it lived up to the hype!! My friend and I had the Hulk, Bianca, and Funghi. Everything was 100% delicious. IMHO, this is the best pizza in Columbus and the three pizzas for $20 is a great deal. I really hope this place is here to stay. Great options for vegetarians.

    Long live the juggernaut!

thanks for sharing a slice with people casually walking by!

Casually walking by and getting a free slice of BONOTOGO from friends who just bought three pies is pretty much the coolest thing one can pull off these days.

only it didn’t happen that way. i think we arrived after K and friend had already scarfed it down. or perhaps it was just too good to offer!

  • Just had my first pie here– the Bianca. I am drowning in garlicky heaven. Sigh…

  • Kee-RISTE! Rockmastermike is now commanded to take me there as soon as I’m able to chew again after my wisdom teeth are out! Please make sure he knows about this!

OMG I feel terrible!! I would have absolutely offered but I didn’t know if you would want “used” pizza! :(

    I get all socially awkward.

Don’t let him make you feel guilty :) Just ’cause it was his birthday the other day doesn’t mean he gets to mooch your amazing pizzas. Right, Dru??? Hehehe.

Even worse! Dru I will buy your first beer the next time I see you. And I ate my leftovers in the car on the way home

No worries, it’s my own fault I haven’t been over there yet. For $20 for 3 I can surely get my own pizza and I must do so soon.

  • I believe I saw Mr. JimL2 walk past work with 3 bonotogo boxes. It took all of my will power to not run onto the sidewalk with my corkscrew raised threateningly and demand he hand over a box, any box, RIGHT NOW.

Tomorrow I’ll be indulging. tonight Mr. Waitress made lasagna with homemade pasta, bechamel, and homemade veal sauce. Guess Bono will have to wait
