Bill Yerkes is at it again. After a brief hiatus from making traditional Napoli-style pizzas, Yerkes is again ready to put a pie in your face.

Yerkes is subletting Eleni-Christina Bakery in the evenings for his latest pizza enterprise, bonoTOGO (as in “to go”) — just in time for the Gallery Hop on Saturday. Although the place’s address is 641 N. High St., the storefront actually faces Russell Street, about 60 feet west of the main drag.

What a great idea- bakery during the morning/afternoon and pizza joint in the evening. Menus for this place were taped above the mailboxes where I live last night. Selection and prices look great. I hope it works out for them.

I was nice meeting you too, even though I didn’t have the opportunity to talk with you very much. I hope to next time!!

Glad to hear that the cherry bomb is treating you well. I will have to give it a shot next time.

  • cab124 wrote It was great finally getting to meet the legendary Bear and Coleen. The Layer Cake wine Bear picked up at Europia was great. I don’t think wine gets any more full-bodied than that.

Hah! Let this be a lesson to new CU posters — notorious + not getting caught + time passing = legend…. Thanks, Cab, Colleen and I enjoyed meeting you too. And I was very happy indeed to find the Layer Cake in the sale bin at Europia, a lot of wine for $15.99.

Stacky wrote And those sexy nutella crepes were gobbled up so fast I didn’t even get a nibble. Next time it’ll be all about the crepe and the Colleen!

For those not in on the joke, “The Colleen” is a #15 (Capricossa) with pesto sauce and a fried egg added — so named because (a) it’s Colleen’s invention and (b) she’s become such a regular there that they should practically name the thing after her.

So — as a little surprise — if you ever order this pizza, please ask for it by name. I’m pretty sure they know what it is by now (though I think she said they forgot the pesto on the last one — but it was one of, jeez, fifteen pizzas or something, totally understandable; they managed to get the egg yolk runny, which has got to be a neat friggin’ trick in a 1000º oven). And it would totally make her month if it ever made it onto the menu.

  • First the Vivian, now the Colleen. I’m going to have to find something to add an egg to and make it my namesake. I’ll ask that it be called The Stud.

    Where is the egg??

  • Oh… that’s a different glue recipe.

Hey, now — it’s the combination of the pesto sauce added to the usual sauce, and the egg on top (the latter being a Niçoise practice I gather), that give the pizza its special character. Can’t just go slappin’ an egg on it and comin’ up with a new name.

    wiseass.

Now, a Cherry Bomb with an egg on top… that’d be a pie. But I wonder what we’d call it? Hmm….

  • Spicy with an egg on top makes me want Korean food.

That’s it! The Bi Bim Bear. Brilliant!!

pizza bi bim bap? I think you may be on to something there…

  • Okay, I realize that we are totally derailing this thread, but I had a Press Burger last night with an egg on it, and it was DELICIOUS. I think I might start a thread called “Things that are better with a fried egg on top.”

Okay, time to go to Warehouse for brunch. That will somehow involve a friend egg…

I used to make burgers like that at home.

I like to eat them open faced at home and leave the yolk really runny.

Medium rare burger grease + egg yolk=heaven in my tummy.

Sorry to aid in your derailing.

    Back to the pizza!

Just about my favorite burger in town.

BAH! This person goes to BONO and all they can talk about is Carlos? No mention of the #2 or any freakin pizza for that matter!

Or perhaps they are trying to snare him up as their own personal pizza chef. Hmm. I’ll bet the poster is a CU member.

It won’t be you . . . you have your own concerns to deal with: Goodale Park Bear

  • XLD wrote It won’t be you . . . you have your own concerns to deal with: Goodale Park Bear

Very funny, very funny. The person in question frequents Goodale Park. Of course, I do go there once in a while…. And he has a white beard. I guess mine has some flecks of grey…. Aha — it’s a goatee! So there.

    Back to Carlos.

  • Too busy last night to get my birthday dinner, sooooo bummed!! I guess the secret is out on this place, it was packed. Good for them, bad for me

You gotta give that place a chance! Those tables opened up shortly after you guys left.

That sidewalk charm is part of the experience. They might loose that if they relocate. I think they are in a perfect spot right where they are.
