Bill Yerkes is at it again. After a brief hiatus from making traditional Napoli-style pizzas, Yerkes is again ready to put a pie in your face.
Yerkes is subletting Eleni-Christina Bakery in the evenings for his latest pizza enterprise, bonoTOGO (as in “to go”) — just in time for the Gallery Hop on Saturday. Although the place’s address is 641 N. High St., the storefront actually faces Russell Street, about 60 feet west of the main drag.
What a great idea- bakery during the morning/afternoon and pizza joint in the evening. Menus for this place were taped above the mailboxes where I live last night. Selection and prices look great. I hope it works out for them.

You weren’t in a city? Huh?
oh.my.god.
just had my first 3 bono togos and we are, without a doubt, SMITTEN. Seriously.
I’ve had a pretty good day today, local-eating wise: Sage this morning, and bono togo on the way home, on a whim – we just thought we’d cruise by and see if they were open and lo and behold, they were (special bonus points for serving until midnight, esp on a Sunday)!
Just for the record, these 2 meat-eaters had 3 vegetarian pizzas without even thinking about it. Just for all you veggies out there. Even the hulk could easily be vegan.
Well, i think if your place is named anything with ‘to go ‘ in the name, it better travel well.

You’ve got a point there, sir.
You weren’t in a city? Huh?
Yeah, I described it oddly. It was a good, urban feeling. Preferable to being on the west side.

I concur. That being said, our pizzas traveled very well for the 3 miles between the spot and our house. Of course, we didn’t get anything loaded with cheese or sauce or whatever. The crust was crisp, through and through.
On Thursday, I donned my cuter-than-cute rain boots and dragged the Bear out to get pizza before seeing Sabrina at the Ohio Theater, you know, on State Street where they show classic flicks in the summer for $3.50 a ticket!!! The pizza at the new Bono ToGo on Russell (Eleni Christina bakery by day) was something I had to try asap, according to a friend who knows what I like! Bill and Carlos were awesome as we “swam” up Russell to their door. It is a cozy place with just a few tables and chairs, which they usually put on the sidewalk. Pies are Neopolitan and 8 bucks a piece––lots of great fresh ingredients on a relatively thin crust with your choice of fresh pesto or tomato sauce as the base. They made us a little snack (since they weren’t busy due to the monsoon) as we waited, the Bianca. I ordered the Hulk and for Bear, it was the San Giorgio. Bill was lamenting that he didn’t have his wood-burning oven, well, I look forward to trying these in that oven! We never made it to the movie, instead we enjoyed hanging out with the guys and then Peggy while finishing our Nebbiolo grape juice from Burgundy Room (Bono ToGo not technically a BYOB, but…..) and espresso made by Bill. Bill, maybe sometime you will put a fried egg on mine àla Niçoise with seasoned olive oil? Prego???? Thanks for a very enjoyable and delicious evening. P.S. See menu earlier in this thread, or better yet, just GO!
Going tonight after ladies 80′s, will report back
Great pizza and they even cut it properly!!!
Did anybody else read this and envision a fried egg on top of an espresso? :?
How late are they open?
midnight
12
Thanks! Just looked at the menu and both the Funghi and the Cherry Bomb have me drooling just a little bit onto my keyboard. Okay, drooling a lot. I might have to check this out tonight after Bar 23…
Yes.
But last night, Colleen went for a return visit with a friend (left me high and dry eating leftovers, didn’t even offer to bring one back!, boy I tell ya, if I had known, I sure would have written the marriage vows differently, dammit), and she reported that there was enough of a crowd that they ran out of pizza well before midnight actually arrived. So beware.
We got the 3 pizza deal last night. Got the 1, 2, and 7. Great stuff, and agree, the owner is weird. When I called I asked for the “3 pizzas for $20 deal”, which the guy didn’t seem to understand. I repeated it slower and clearer, and he responded with “ohhhh, the ménage à trois”. I was also given a name (Dennis) for my pickup order, instead of providing my own name. Maybe he was just in an extra squirrely mood.
that is awesome.
Hee hee, that sounds like his regular mood, actually.
I am going on a date there tonight. Maybe I’ll do a restaurant review? My review will not speak highly if the place runs out of pizza again.
Stay tuned.

A big town is more like it… The place had a quaint big town feel. Were there people with laptops inside?
