bonoPIZZA is moving from Short North to Grandview

Dear ColumbusUnderground folks,

Today Peggy and I made a decision to permanently close the bonoPIZZA operation on Russell Street. During our time there, we met many nice people and we loved our neighbors. So it took quite a bit of thought to arrive at this decision.

Kent Rigsby owns the bakery where Bono was located, and he was very nice and even helpful to us. But it became apparent that the bakery staff didn’t share his enthusiasm and the shared-space arrangement became untenable for us.

We believe we gave the Short North a neighborhood pizza joint with great food, reasonably priced, and served in the most fun way we could deliver.

We plan to reopen within four weeks in the Grandview Heights/UA area. Our new space will accommodate a wood-fired oven so we can bring you even better pizzas–and a few new surprises. The #2 pizza formerly known as the San Giorgio will heretofore be known as the San Rolando.

Thank you all very much for your friendship and patronage. Bono’s phone number 906-8646 remains the same, so feel free to call us for updates and directions.

We will be at CU’s 7th Anniversary party tomorrow night with our mobile wood-fired pizza cart and look forward to seeing you there!

Thank you all again,

Bill & Peggy Yerkes

You’ll be missed, but I’m glad you are carrying on elsewhere.

Can you divulge where you’ll be? Perhaps the former Cowtown Pizza location at 3rd and NW?

A tear jerking experience has been put before us

This place replaced my Northstar, my trips to Chipotle

Warm food made fresh and healthful in my somewhat neighborhood setting

    RIP Bono Short North

oooohhh thank you for thinking about grandview as your new space! I stick pretty close-to-home when it comes to pizza ordering and as much as i love me some granddad’s, we definitely could use more options here! I’m excited you’re moving to my area! Can’t wait to try it!

This is a bummer but the new space in Grandview will work better for Bill and Peggy.

The sad part is their greatest fan Roland has just gotten the equivalant of a “Dear Roland letter”. Bill and Peggy wanted to tell him the news at the CU meet up tonight.

Grandview isn’t on the moon. If Rockmastermike and I were able to make it to the SN location, I’m sure the thought of a yummy Bianca will cause others to take the trip in this direction. Don’t fret!

Dang! And I’d been planning a trip to bono as part of Thanksgiving weekend, too! Ah well. I’m sorry that the SN space didn’t work out, and I’m sure the SN as a whole will miss you. I’ll make it to the Grandview location at the first opportunity! (Is there going to be alfresco space at the new location as swanky as there was at the old?)

P.S. It’s “henceforth” or “hereafter” not “heretofore.” “Heretofore” means it’s been known as the San Rolando up to now, but will henceforth be known as something else.

    /pompous lawyer mode. :P

They are moving closer to me… so that makes me happy… and I figure this makes the memories from the sidewalk extra-special now. Sorry to hear that there needs to be a move, but I will sure be there to support the new location!
