Blue Jackets fire GM Doug MacLean

Doug MacLean was fired as president and general manager of the Blue Jackets last night after a meeting of the club’s ownership group, multiple club sources told The Dispatch.

A decision was made after a lengthy meeting at Double Eagle Golf Club, the ultra-exclusive club owned by Blue Jackets’ majority owner John H. McConnell.

It comes less than two weeks after the Blue Jackets ended their sixth NHL season without a playoff appearance.

Spokesman Todd Sharrock said the club “had no announcement to make at this time,” but numerous sources confirmed the firing around 11 p.m.

    Well, they’ve tried everything else - new coach, new players…. had to be the GM next.

    Somehow, I’m not seeing this as the magic bullet which will turn CBJ into a winning franchise…
