Blue Jackets Announce Special Activites Surrounding Opening Night
Opening Night pre-game show starts at 6:45 p.m.
The Columbus Blue Jackets announced today special activities being held in conjunction with the National Hockey League club hosting its sixth home opener on Friday, October 6, at Nationwide Arena against the Vancouver Canucks. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and doors open at 6 p.m.
This year’s Opening Night show features an elaborate video presentation, special effects, and a unique introduction of the 2006-07 Blue Jackets players and coaches. On the eve of their own inaugural season home opener at Nationwide Arena, members of the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets (USHL) will also be introduced individually during the pre-game festivities. Finally, Universal Records recording artist and lead singer of Saving Jane, Marti Dodson, will perform the U.S. and Canadian National Anthems.

I’ll be there tonight. I went by the arena earlier this afternoon and it looks like Fox has set up a GameDay-type TV stage outside the Blue Line near the entrances on Front/Nationwide, which is a cool little wrinkle considering how thin the interest probably is among people who aren’t already at the game.
The CBJ staff always does a good job with game production and I think they might have some surprises for tonight. Hot girls in short skirts on the ice during commercial breaks? Check.
