The 30-mile race/ride will progress all today today though many Columbus neighborhoods including the King Lincoln District, Woodland Park, Downtown, Short North Arts District, Italian Village, University District, Harrison West, Victorian Village, Arena District, Franklinton, Brewery District and German Village.

If you happen to see any cyclists out on the streets taking part today, be sure to cheer them on!

  • Some photos from around 9am this morning:

  • oops. I overslept.

  • I went for a long bike ride today and I didn’t get anyone to cheer me on! (I even blogged about it!) No fair! :-P

  • A few more photos from the start of the 2PM race:

  • It was a really well done event. Shoulda drawn more peole but I’m not sure how well it was advertised. Nice to get out into some neighborhoods I don’t typically have the chance to see. Many thanks to all the folks you hosted it and the sponsors manning the water stations!

  • Agreed. Would have been nice to see more people out for the early events, but it is pretty early for that sort of thing on Saturday morning. Or at least I had trouble getting up at 8:30am to get over there for it. ;)

But now that the races have started, it’s much more exciting! I guess I’ve never been too much into bike racing on TV, but to have it happening out in the street is a lot of fun to watch!

  • looks like folks had a really fun time!

  • I had a great time today, great event. I did all four legs and it took about 3 1/2 hours overall.

Thanks to all the volunteers. Lots of cold water, bananas, and energy bars. Also thanks to Zanzibar for passing out those awesome frozen coffee treats when I finished. They were great!

Anyway, great event, and nice to see some areas of town that I hadn’t really seen before. I’ll be attending next year for sure…

  • Man, that looked great. Was this the first one? A little more advertising and it could turn into a pretty serious event, maybe even as big as the Cbus Marathon.

  • It’s a bit confusing since there is so much going on, all with different names.

Bike the C-BUS, Tour de Columbus, Walk for Wellness, and Long Street Races.

Some things have been around longer than others. Great to have all of these events going on all throughout the day though. I was pretty confused this year as to what was actually happening. When I heard my street would be shut down, I thought it was for the huge 30 mile tour, and bikes would just be casually riding by all day. Instead it was for the Streetraces, which cyclists were zooming 20 laps around with a variety of professional and amateur classes. If I would have realized that I would have thrown a party in the front yard to watch and cheer. :D Always next year, right?
