Beyond Limits Training Expands Downtown Location

Beyond Limits Training has been a fitness staple in the Downtown area for almost eight years. Located at 294 E. Long St., they recently expanded from 7,000 square feet to 9,000 square feet with the addition of the building next door to their space. Owner Rich Lauro embraces and teaches the benefits of strength training and general fitness to his clients at Beyond Limits Training.

Lauro worked as a personal trainer for several years when he hit a wall. He realized he could only go so far in his personal training career at the gym he was working for at the time and decided to explore other options. In 2010, he opened Beyond Limits Training as a personal training facility. It quickly grew into a general training facility in the downstairs of the Seneca building. Later that year, Lauro saw that they were quickly outgrowing their space and moved the facility to their current East Long Street location, where they grew into a complete gym.

Since the beginning, Beyond Limits Training has offered personal training, CrossFit, and general exercise space. Three years after opening, Lauro acquired the second floor of their building and moved a lot of their cardio equipment upstairs, creating more room for weights on the first floor. In 2015, a second location opened in a warehouse on the east side. The open floor layout of the new warehouse space better housed their CrossFit programs, allowing the Downtown location to focus more on strength straining.

Lauro aims to create a space where both serious athletes and workout novices can exercise alongside each other, believing that fitness is about strength, not just being skinny. The facility does have several standard cardio equipment – treadmill, elliptical, bike – but a majority of the equipment is geared more toward improving strength. The opening of their new space next door to their current one has allowed for Olympic weights, more cardio, and more squat bars.

Beyond Limits Training has five personal trainers available for private sessions and creating personal exercise plans. The trainers are paired with clients based on their goals and availability, whether it’s meeting twice a month or twice a week. Their facility is open 24/7, allowing clients to work out on their own schedule.
