Columbus has many great performance arts groups large and small that span a wide variety of styles. When we asked our readers for the first time this year to pick out their favorite of the bunch, the one that rose to the top of the list has pretty much every base covered: comedy, musicals, drama, dance, video, and more.

Of course, we’re talking about Shadowbox Live, the largest resident theater company in America. This powerhouse of a group performs a mix of original (Underland) and classic (Rocky Horror) productions 52 weeks per year, offering something for everyone in their Brewery District home.

“Shadowbox Live cares deeply about their audience and Columbus as a whole,” says CU Theatre Reviewer Lisa Much. “They truly value feedback from the people in the seats as well as local companies and collaborate with other groups to create exciting new work. They produce consistent, frequent, and highly technical and integrative shows, while obviously striving do better with each production.”
