Food may be most often discussed topic day in and day out on Columbus Underground, so the “Best Restaurant” award is one that always weighs heavier than many others. For the second year in a row, Alana’s Food & Wine has topped our reader’s poll as the absolutely best Columbus restaurant of the year. Chef and owner Alana Shock has lived on the cutting edge of accessible gourmet dining and manages to maintain her popularity as the go-to spot for foodies through her focus on local, seasonal, and specialty ingredients.
The Top 10 Restaurants of 2009:

I think a pick top 3 or pick top 5 approach would get the right results.
Rigsby’s has never disappointed me. However, I typically only go for lunch when it is slower paced.
Alana’s and Deepwood are my two personal favorites I voted for Alana’s because I had to choose. For next year – if people give Deepwood a shot – I am sure they will be on the list. The Tavern Menu and their special dinners are a great way to experience the restaurant at an added value. You can also get discounted gift certificates for Deepwood from Dine Originals 4 times per year. There will be two Dine Originals Restaurant weeks in 2010 which will also allow opportunities to sample Deepwood at a value. I have seen other discounted certificate deals for Deepwood from other places as well.
For any foodcast listeners out there, episode 51 will go live soon where we speak with Brian from Deepwood about his ingredient driven menu.
Another prediction for the top 10 restaurants of 2010 – Skillet. The Caskey’s from Skillet are also in Episode 51.
And for the voting discussion, it could work where a #1 vote gets 10 points, a #2 vote gets 5 and a #3 gets 3 or something like that and then the winners are determined by point score.
We’re going to Latitude 41 for Valentine’s day. It’s delicious and the chef is great (both in personality and skills). It’s just too bad it’s in The Renaissance– I think many more people would go there if it weren’t in a hotel.
