2012 was a good year for public art in Columbus. Multiple murals went up in various neighborhoods, and many installations were completed in Downtown Columbus through the Finding Time project, which celebrated the bicentennial.
The one public art project that stood out as our readers’ favorite was the Bicentennial Towers sculpture by David Best. Four white decorative spirals were erected on columns on the Broad Street Bridge Downtown, which will remain in place through the end of the year. While the work was only temporary, it certainly sparked a public conversation about the possibility of investing in more permanent sculptures in this prime location for display.
