Best Place to Shop 2009: Short North

For two years straight, the Short North has topped our reader’s poll list for the best place in Columbus to shop. While the neighborhood lost a few retail destinations in 2009, several new ones emerged including Go Figure Consignment, Undone, Big Rock Little Rooster, and Funky & Functional. Additionally, seven out of the ten established shops listed in our Best Stores of 2009 can be found in the Short North including Tigertree, Rowe, What The Rock?!, Collier West, Paradise Garage, Substance and Grandview Mercantile.

The Best Places to Shop in Columbus in 2009:

  5. Polaris Fashion Place
  6. Tuttle Mall
  7. German Village
  8. The Lennox Center
  9. Shops on Lane Avenue

  • I love the Short North – it’s why I live in the neighborhood. But apparently my eyes have been closed and Dr. MoJoe is no more. It makes me sad – really sad. With that and other closings, there are a number of vacant store fronts that I hope will soon be filled.

  • I know it is sad to see things go, but at least in the SHort North there is the anticipation of what will move in. It is a great area.

  • And soon you will be able to buy fresh Short North-made Bagels, Soups, Sandwiches, and from “Bagels by Captain Cream Cheese” (in the Late Night Slice hut) from 10 am to 5pm.

  • Mikey’s Late Night Slice is one of my favorite things to happen in the SN. I’m glad he’s there.

  • Well, it about to get better.
