Last month we decided to do a “head count” of restaurants that have opened in 2009, and totaled up over 35 new additions to the Columbus dining landscape. Of those newcomers, Dirty Frank’s Hot Dog Palace was overwhelmingly crowned as the best of the bunch in our reader’s poll. This fourth unique establishment in the Betty’s Family of Restaurants got their Downtown doors opened on July 1st, and spent the last half of 2009 slinging hot dogs into our hearts.

Hell, yeah! My friends are getting so tired of me raving about DF to the point they’re asking if I work there. I’ve got a whole soccer team wanting to come because I’ve talked it up so much. For some reason, I’ve become a HUGE fan of the place. Than you Liz for giving my life meaning. I’m still planning on bringing my bday party there.
My wife and I went a week or two after it opened. It needs to be 2 or 3 (4?) times as big! Great food, but I don’t know if it had much effect on my life’s meaning, though;)
Love it love it love it!!
I dream of the Fire on the Rhine. Mmmmm….I think I want DF tonight.
Been there twice, had four different dogs, and may I humbly suggest that they rename the place “Dirty Frank’s Slightly-More-Than-Room-Temperature-Dog Palace.”
Yeah scornflakes is right. No one should go to DF. Please stay away…
Leave all the delicious dogs, fries, and rings for me!!!!! Love ya DF! See you Saturday, like every Saturday.
Fire on the Rhine would be perfect right now.
Hot dog! On behalf of our hot dog slingers & slushie mixologists, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are so appreciative of the tremendous support we’ve received from the ColumbusUnderground.com community and downtown. We have lots of fun in store for 2010. Thanks for your love!
@Scornflakes, we are always happy to remedy an unhappy situation, just let us know. My apologies for any negative experience, our goal is that you have a fun and delicious time every time you visit. You can always contact me personally at elizabeth@bettyscolumbus.com or call me at 614.291.8073.
Congrats to all the fabulous new restaurants listed, we’ve had some wonderful new additions to our dining scene.

The reaction to a hot dog stand affirms the desperation of Columbusites to create some semblance of a downtown.
Go ask New Yorkers about their hot dog places…
@ja: Or to the fact that it’s just really, really good. (but hey, go with the weird conspiracy theory if it makes you feel better.)
