Best Neighborhood of 2011: The Short North

Not a huge surprise to see that The Short North topped our “Best Neighborhood” category of this year’s reader survey, marking the fourth year in a row for the popular area. This neighborhood has continued to grow and evolve over the past twelve months with the opening of new businesses such as The Candle Lab, Old World New Home, Fringe Outfitters, Brothers Drake, the renovated Kroger and perhaps most significantly, the reopening of the long empty Garden Theater thanks to the new nonprofit Short North Stage.

Much of the rest of the neighborhood list was similar to last year. German Village, Clintonville and Grandview Heights all held fast to their spots from 2010, while Downtown, Olde Towne East and Italian village jumped up a bit, and Victorian Village and Harrison West slipped a bit. Franklinton also debuted this year at #10, knocking Old North Columbus off the list.
