2008 saw a lot of great new restaurants hitting the local dining scene, but some of our old favorites remained our new favorites this past year. At the top of our survey results for “Best Established Restaurant of 2008″ was Alana’s Food and Wine, located at 2333 N. High Street.
Alana’s emphasis on fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients have made it a long-time fan favorite on Columbus Underground. A review by Swampkitty was posted back in August and is worthy a re-read if you’ve never been to Alana’s.

#6 Betty’s Fine Food & Spirits
#9 Lindey’s

No Christensen-esque grudges here! Glad to see Alana getting the respect she deserves.
Wow, great list. I absolutely love 9 out of the 10 on there (don’t care for Hyde Park much though).
And I’ve yet to eat here.
Yeah, I only scored a 7 out of 10 on this list. Still need to get around to Alana’s, Rigsby’s, and Lindey’s someday.
wow, you’ve never eaten at Rigsby’s Walk?!? Lindey’s is good, but nothing spectacular, I still think I’ve had more great meals at Rigsby’s over the years than any other restaurant in Columbus though.
I’ve been to Tasi’s a few times if that helps? Heh.
But yeah, Rigsby’s is on my short list. There’s just too many great restaurant options in Columbus sometimes.
Damn straight.
’nuff said.
Pretty great list!
FYI, Rigsby’s has a great lunch – you can easily get out of their for under $15. Excellent cheeseburger. It’s casual too.

+1 Alana’s.
Of note, on Tuesdays Alana’s now offer $15 pasta dishes and some wine specials. Good reason to get in the door and stay awhile.
Others on my list:
Betty’s
Rigsby’s Kitchen
The Press Grille
Lindey’s
The Refectory Restaurant & Bistro
Basi Italia
Starliner Diner
Blackcreek Bistro
Cuco’s
Let’s support our local independent restaurants this winter.
I went to Rigsby’s for lunch today. It was really good – and good value. They have a blue plate special for $10 where you get half a portion of pasta or half a sandwich with soup or salad. Staff were very friendly and helpful, it comes with delicious Eleni Christina bread and no waiting in lines – I will definitely be going back. It was cheaper than the lunch I had at North Star last week.
I had a delicious beef brisket sandwich with the soup of the day.
Couldn’t resist the truffled devils eggs either having heard so much about them. $3 and worth every penny.
Hands down my favorite lunch spot. Incredible value. I park it at the bar at least 2 times a week.
+1 Rigsby’s
and I forgot to mention the Rossi. That would be in my top 8 for sure. Rossi is tied with Details for my favorite later in the night snack and cocktail place.
Both are CU tested and Roland Approved
Details also has the honor of best ketchup in the world.
