bonoPIZZA wins another category in the “Best Dish or Menu Item for 2008″. Although ‘Anything Bono’ was the winner, the Hulk Pizza and the San Rolando were the standout selections. The #17 Hulk pizza is: “entirely green, pesto, fresh mozz, fresh spinach, green olives, green onions, green peppers, zucchini, and anything else green we happen to have lying around.” The #2 pizza formerly known as the San Giorgio is now known as the San Rolando, consisting of Italian tomato sauce, fresh mozz, pepperoni, and sausage. The name change was in honor of bono’s best and most faithful customer, Roland.
Second Place: “Anything Lessner“, Standouts being Pot Roast or Mac & Cheese dishes.
Third Place: Third place: “Anything Jeni’s“

I know someone mentioned in another thread that the spot in Grandview fell through. Any new news regarding their re-opening?
San Rolando FTW!!!
Yes. Yes. Hulk. I miss it greatly. Bianca was my next favorite though. If Bono needs help getting space, let us know… this is a treasure too long missing.
I think they’d be a good fit for the old Skambo spot on Gay Street. ;)
Love the idea of them in the Skambo spot, but isn’t it like 80 kajillion bucks per month?
unsure what the skambo is, enlighten..
Skambo is here (Gay st.):

Yeah, I imagine it’s expensive. But as well as bono was doing in their old location, they’d probably have a line out the door every day if they did lunch service in the Skambo spot in addition to dinner.
Not quite sure if that sort of craziness is what Bill & Peggy are looking for though. ;)
Yay for Bono, Lessner, and Jeni’s! I love all of those places so much. I can’t believe how much of a junkie I must be have a pizza renamed for me but I’m very honored! And now very hungry.
Bill had mentioned looking in Clintonville, the North end of the Short North, and also a place in the Short North near the cap.
Clintonville would be totally unacceptable. The other two would be cool though.
The San Rolando I had for the first time at Spark and it has changed my life. I cannot wait for Bono to get a new spot.
Man, I can only hope for a Clintonville Bono. Bring it on!
Um….The Hulk beat out the Colleen???? Roland, Bear…please – statistical data shows that when the 15 b appeared on the menu it quickly became Roland’s number 2 pizza – which means at least 194 were created by Bill. As for the Bono location – let’s chip in to get Bill the right vendor’s license so he can take the show on the road. Bono could then give the Taco Trucks a run for their money. And we can work out a joint custody agreement between Clintonville (spot available on Beechwold) and Victorian Village – either Club Roland or Highland Estates. Think about the greater good people.
Nida & I looked at the Skambo space back while we were working on 976 N High. As I recall, at that time (very pre-recession) they were asking for something around a 5-yr lease escalating to $25/ft, with some incentives and options.
Rent at that level is on the higher side for Columbus, but not at the very top. It is a nice space, with the balcony and the plate glass. It would need new kitchen ventilation b/c it has none now. It wouldn’t be an no-brainer space to open a pizza shop in, but still very doable IMHO.
