On March 24th, Columbus Underground will be hosting Best Bites: Pizza — a celebration of the city’s best pizza shops, pizza food trucks, restaurants and more. A limited number of tickets are still available, so be sure to purchase yours online before they’re sold out. To get your tastebuds watering, we’ll be previewing what each of our participating pizza makers will be showcasing at the event:
At Cafe Napolitana it is all about family and good food. From a young age Palmo Aracri has been immersed in the culinary world; his father ran a small cafeteria in Italy. Along with his wife, Deanne, he opened the doors to Cafe Napolitana in 1992, and has been serving the the city of Columbus ever since. Sticking with tradition, they make their dough, bread, sauces and pastas daily and hand toss each pizza to order.
At Best Bites: Pizza, Cafe Napolitana will be serving up a variety of pizzas on their New York style crusts. Their selections will include a white style pizza topped with spinach marinated in their own blend of spices and finest olive oils.

Advance tickets to the event are $30, which includes unlimited pizza samples and a cash bar featuring Pacifico Clara beer, in addition to wine and a specialty cocktail. Tickets are officially sold out as of Noon on 3/21. As always, attendees will also be able to cast their vote for their favorite pizza of the night, and the winner will be recognized on Columbus Underground as the Best Pizza of 2016!
Participating pizza makers include Bexley Pizza Plus, Mikey’s Late Night Slice, Borgata Pizza Cafe, Due Amici, Mama Mimi’s, Dewey’s Pizza, OH Pizza and Brew, Halwani Cuisine, Sbarro, Uno Pizzeria & Grill, Leone’s Pizza, Dahlia Bar & Lounge, BBR, Romeo’s Pizza, GoreMade, Cafe Napolitana and Plank’s Bier Garten. Additionally, Market 65 will be serving up samples of two of their featured salads: The House Italian and the “Green Machine”.
Ryan LaRose from the US Pizza Team will be on stage to showcase some of his pizza dough tossing skills while DJ Charles Erickson provides musical entertainment all night long.
A portion of the proceeds from all ticket sales will be donated to Neighborhood Services, Inc., a local charity that works to alleviate poverty and provide food services here in Columbus. The Columbus Underground Best Bites event series have collectively raised over $10,000 for local charities since August 2014.
