Columbus Underground is gathering all of the city’s top dessert makers together for one night of delicious indulgence at our second annualĀ Best Bites: Sweet TreatsĀ event on Tuesday, February 9th at The Athenaeum.
This Mardi Gras themed event will feature 28 businesses providing samples of everything from pies to ice creams to donuts to marshmallows to donuts and everything in between. Attendees will also cast their votes to name one dessert the Best Bite in Columbus!
Here’s a quick preview of several of the treats that will be featured at the event:
Mini Beignets
FromĀ Four and Twenty Blackbird Bake Shop
Four and Twenty Blackbird Bake Shop will be returning to Best Bites this year with their beignets. This popular New Orleans fits the event’s Mardi Gras theme quite well, and the treats are available with either powered sugar or cinnamon-sugar coatings.
Salted Caramels
FromĀ three kids and a kitchen
The team at three kids and a kitchen will be returning to Best Bites: Sweet Treats again this year, and bringing back their signature salted caramel candies. This popular treat puts a new spin on old fashioned caramels by layering in Himalayan pink salt, creating a melt-in-your-mouth salty/sweet experiences.
Quartet of Cupcakes
From Mika’s Cupcakes & Creams
The brand new Mika’s Cupcakes will be featuring four types of gourmet cupcakes at Best Bites: Sweet Treats, including Mika’s Famous Strawberry Cupcake, Mimi’s Triple Chocolate Cupcake, Dreamy Red Velvet Cupcake and Heavenly Strawberry Cheesecake.Ā
PB&J Ice Pops and Strawberry Angostura Ice Pops
FromĀ Rime Time Pops
Newcomer Rime Time just launched this past summer, bringing a new brand of frozen treats to Columbus. At Best Bites, they’ll be sampling two of their flavors: theĀ PB&J Ice Pop, made with Krema Nut Company peanut butter and handpicked strawberry jam, and their Strawberry Angostura Ice Pop, made with the same strawberries and a splash ofĀ Angostura bitters.
Watershed Bourbon Pecan Sticky Buns
From Pattycake Bakery
Pattycake Bakery is returning for their second Best Bites: Sweet Treats, and this time they’re bringingĀ miniature versions of their popular Pecan Sticky Buns, but with a Mardi Gras twist: the buttercream icing is made with Bourbon from locally-based Watershed Distillery!
Advance tickets to the event are $30, which includes unlimited sweet treat samples and a cash bar featuringĀ Crafthouse CocktailsĀ as well as beer and wine options. Tickets are expected to sell out. Ā A portion of the proceeds from all ticket sales will be donated to the The Columbus FoundationāsĀ Gifts of Kindness Fund.

The Columbus UndergroundĀ Best Bites event series have collectively raised over $7,500 for local charities since August 2014.
