Have you heard? Columbus Underground’s popular event Best Bites: Brunch is returning for a second year! This popular breakfast for dinner party brings together tried and true brunch favorites and new menus that have hit the scene from around the city. As always, to get you excited we are sharing a sneak peek of the menu items you can expect to see at the event.
Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea is joining us for another year to keep us caffeinated. Crimson Cup was voted Roast magazine’s 2016 Macro Roaster of the Year. Since 1991, Crimson Cup has roasted sustainably sourced specialty and craft coffee in small batches. Their coffee is available through a community of more than 350 independent coffee shops, grocers, college and universities, restaurants and their own cafes. At Best Bites: Brunch Crimson Cup will be sampling out their Signature Nitro Cold Brew, an on tap cold brew with the creamy texture of a stout with a hoppy taste that lends floral, citrus and herb notes to the flavor. Challah! Food Truck combines traditional Jewish deli food with a farm-to-fork sensibility to create a fresh, homemade and most of all, tasty offering of sandwiches. The truck in not kosher but operates in a kosher-style. The inspiration is two-fold: the timeless tradition of putting great ingredients together between two slices of bread to create a casual and fun eating experience and traditional Jewish deli comfort food – rich, wholesome and soulful. Snuggled in on booming Fourth Street, Hadley’s Bar and Kitchen has already exploded on the scene since opening in August 2016. Hadley’s inspiration began with the hunt for the best burger, so genuine and satisfying that you can’t wait to indulge with a cocktail or your favorite craft beer. This idea has catapulted a hip and satisfying menu that brings taste to the forefront of conversation. The menu highlights daily specials that span a diverse palate including a Vegan Monday menu and weekend brunch. The open space and welcoming, upscale diner atmosphere provides a great after work or after hours spot. At Best Bites: Brunch Hadley’s will be dishing out their Doughnut French Toast – cake donuts battered and griddled, topped with candied bacon and bourbon infused maple syrup. 101 Beer Kitchen opened its Dublin, OH doors in October 2012 and was the first on the scene in the Columbus wave of Gastropubs. There are now three locations dotting the northern outer belt in Dublin, Westerville and Gahanna. 101BK is a chef-driven concept with seasonal scratch-made fare in a comfortable environment set in the suburbs. They are focused on caring and providing for our community while educating them in the joys of food and beer. At Best Bites: Brunch they will be sampling out their Pigs in a Blanket with Nueske Cheddar Brats in House Pastry Dough with Honey Mustard Sauce for dipping plus a non-alcoholic samples of their 101 Signature Bloody Mary. Best Bites: Brunch will take place on the evening of Thursday, April 20th from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. at the Ohio History Connection. Tickets to the event will include bite-sized brunch samples of signature dishes from our restaurant vendors, coffee from Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea, admission to the exhibits at the Ohio History Connection and live entertainment. Trapped Columbus will help capture the night’s festivities with an open air photo booth. All ticket holders will be able to print and share the night’s memories!
To top it all off, there will be curated cash bar with Micheladas, mimosas and more — featuring Modelo Especial and Modelo Negra, Chloe Wines and Specialty Cocktails by St. Brendan’s. Plus, while you’re brunchin’ away, DJ Charles Erickson will be providing live entertainment all night.
Participating restaurants include Sunny Street Cafe, Copious, Broke Johnny Food Truck, Drunch Eatery + Bar, Taste of Belgium, 101 Beer Kitchen, CBC Restaurant, Hadley’s Bar + Kitchen, The Worthington Inn, Biscuit and Branch, Challah, Tucci’s, What the Waffle, Put it in Your Face Sandwich Cart, Bob Evans, Trattoria Roma, Rusty Bucket Restaurant & Tavern, Liberte Yogurt, Just Naturally Yummy Bakery and Catering Company, Barroluco Argentine Comfort Food and more to be announced. Look out in coming weeks for details on added restaurants and delicious descriptions of what each vendor will be serving up at the event!
Advance tickets to the event are available now for $30 which give each guest full access to the event from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. A small number of Early bird tickets are still available at $35 until they run out. Early bird ticket holders will get exclusive access to the event at 6 p.m. for an extra hour of brunch goodness, and will be the first in line to try each sample. Parking is free. As always, each ticket gives guests the opportunity to vote for their favorite brunch of the night!
A portion of the proceeds from all ticket sales will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio. The Columbus Underground Best Bites event series have collectively raised over $25,000 for local charities since August 2014.
