For a quick culinary trip outside the United States, local flock to the Explorers Club, where Chef Dan Varga regularly creates menus that spin off the flavors of Mexico, Hungary, West Africa, the Mediterranean, Asia, and more.
This flair for the exotic also extends to his burgers, where for the Best Bites: Burgers event, Chef Varga will feature the Mofongo, laden with smoked pulled pork with cilantro, plantains, roasted garlic, fresh lime juice, and jalapeño slaw.
The whole shebang is served atop a toasted Cuban bun that complements both the flavor and girth of the meal. The Mofongo is designed to fill up and satisfy; it is not for the meek, the weak, or the apprehensive.
