What’s more American than Apple Pie? How about an Apple Pie Burger? It’s a creative challenge put to Chef Robby Lucas at Bar 145 by one of his line cooks. It’s a challenge he met head on, and we get to taste the results at Best Bites: Burgers in its inaugural year.
Chef Lucas is an innovator in his own right, constantly elevating the burger offerings at Bar 145 with an eye toward originality, playfulness, and surprise. He’s comfortable with the interplay between opposites, like sweet and savory, often creating complex flavor profiles that start conversations.
The Apple Pie Burger is a sophisticated sandwich, using rum-spiced apples and whipped cream cheese as its flavor weapons. It’s easily one of the most unique burgers in the city, while still maintaining a sense of the familiar with the happy and patriotic interplay of fruit and booze.
Is this unconventional burger the best in Columbus? There’re few activities more American than voting, so come on out to the Best Bites: Burgers event, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, August 20th, 6pm – 9pm, at the High Line Car House, 550 South High Street, and do your civic duty. [Tickets to Best Bites: Burgers are currently sold out.]
