Hi Everyone! Angela Caskey from the Banana Bean Cafe. We are pleased to announce the purchase of Tavern on the Lawn. We have looked at several locations around town and couldn’t have found one more perfect for us. Through the hard work and effort of Tavern on the Lawn, Jill McDonald has transformed this location into a beautiful destination. This expansion gives us the opportunity to create a new menu and atmosphere that has been stifled due to lack of space and not having a liquor license. Additional information will be posted at a later date. Thanks to the Columbus Undergound community for you support, your suggestions, and being honest when we have fallen short of your expectations. We look forward to this next challenge and growing with Columbus.
Thanks!

I’m all for more Banana Bean. It’s been too long since I’ve been there.
Mmmmm….eggs del mar and a giant coffee would be great right now.
I am so excited about this….I get a tear in my eye when I call for a spot and they are booked all day. Love, love, love BB.

That sounds perfect and makes my Kashi waffles look all the more sad.
I have the BB number programmed into my cell phone. I used to wake up early on Sunday, place a quick call to grab a spot, then roll over and go back to sleep.
It really sounds so good right now. They had a soft shell crab sandwich there once that was criminally tasty.

It’s especially delightful when you add an order of bananas foster french toast to share in the middle of your table with your other friends.
And at least you are eating waffles. I never manage to make breakfast. Hell, I barely manage to make it out of bed each morning. :)
So does this mean Banana Bean will be relocating to this new space, or opening a second Columbus location?
Either way, great news! :D
(Google maps… Tavern on the Lawn… Greenlawn… just off of 315… hey, I can get there in about, five minutes I bet….)
Glorious.
I predict that this will prove to be a very wise business decision.
Still trying to figure out exactly where this is.

Just wanted to clarify, this will be our second Banana Bean location, the address is 340 Greenlawn Avenue. We are tweaking the menus for both locations, hours of operation, and so forth but we will keep you posted as we go. We are so excited!! Thanks again!!

Good to hear! I was afraid the Whittier location would be closing and moving, and I love the charm of that place, even if it is hard to get reservations sometimes. ;)
I hope the french toast with marscapone chesee, chocolate drizzle and strawberries will become a regular item!!!!
When? When?!
I was just telling a new neighbor all about Banana Bean and mentioned how much it needed a liquor license to make it perfect. Food that good really needs to be accompanied by a nice wine. Or bloody mary for the brunch crowd.
I’m sure they will be moving. The liquor liscence is a big issue and those actually come with the building…I think. I already loved the food, can’t wait to try out the expanded menu.
Oh this is great news!!!
SO glad they aren’t leaving Whittier St.
yay! so glad to hear this :)
CONGRATS BANANA BEAN!
Another wonderful Columbus Original growing and thriving. I love it.
I can’t wait to check out the new digs…and order my mango iced tea spiked!
It’s things like this that make me jealous of everyone living close to downtown. I want to wake up and walk a few blocks for brunch on Saturday like my friends in Brooklyn!
This might not be a walk down the street for you but one of the reasons we loved this location is due to easy access from all over Columbus. Along with a large parking lot the view from the building is welcoming. The park across the street gives you a feel of open spaces. We will be building two large decks and an outside bar on the front of the building so our customers can enjoy the open feel of the park. Look foward to seeing you there from Powell!
