Apple to Open New Retail Store at Polaris

By: Walker

According to an article in Business First (“Apple opening Polaris store“), Columbus will be getting its second Apple retail store at the Polaris Fashion Place Mall. You won’t have to wait long to get your fix of new iPhone and Macbooks either, as the new store is scheduled to open on Saturday.

Anyone planning on heading there on opening day? Or will you stick to the Easton location, MicroCenter, or buying your Apple-branded electronics online?

  • 2 far..I cant see myself shopping at Polaris!

  • If I lived near Polaris, I’d be excited about this news… but yeah… this is too far from where I live to be something I’ll utilize. Easton is closer, and the ability to easily park at a meter and run in and out sounds more appealing than parking in the massive parking lots around Polaris to get in and out of this new store.

MicroCenter is my all time favorite electronics store anyway, and they have a full range of Apple products as well as everything else under the sun. Plus, they’re Hilliard-based, so it’s supporting a local business to shop there. ;)

  • I live rather near Polaris and can’t see myself shopping at Polaris.

  • I know it doesn’t align with Apple’s site selection criteria, but it would be awesome if they had a destination store downtown.

  • Despite my hatred for dealing with Easton traffic, Polaris is much much worse. A downtown location would be great but unlikely. In terms on a location close to the center of town Grandview Yard could work or The Gateway.

  • I’ll stick with the Easton location. Always had good service there and I like shopping at the stores nearby it. Plus there’s a yagoot there. Seals the deal….

  • I am glad to see support for the MC since they are local! But between Polaris and Easton, I would rather go to Polaris. If I used Apple products, I would shop at the new Polaris store.

  • Even though I live near Polaris, I think they could’ve done better with a store somewhere downtown.

  • Crack investigative reporting there Lou (Columbus First).

That certainly explains the big apple logo and the comming soon sign in Polaris for the last couple of weeks.  Never would have figured that out.

  • The one thing Apple store does better than MicroCenter is the OneonOne training sessions. I bought my mother one so that she wouldn’t have to call me so often for remote tech support. Living in the north suburbs, the Polairs location is better than trekking to Easton. I’ve noticed that Apple seems to be on a second wave of retail expansion opening second locations in cities and pushing into smaller communities like Fresno and Modesto.

  • Kinda hoping that Grandview Yard will bring in some stores like this. Heck, I would be happy with a Best Buy. I still miss being able to just shoot over to City Center for my occasional retail fix.

  • I would love to see an Apple store in the Short North or northern downtown area around the convention center.

  • I would have cared about supporting MicroCenter until I worked there for 3 months. Worst. Job. Ever.

I don’t go to Polaris often, but I am glad I will have something else to look at when I do go. I love my Macs. :-)

  • The Wexner Center Store is also an Apple retailer. We stock iPods, iPads, iMacs, MacBooks, software, and accessories. The Ohio State University’s faculty, staff and students as well as Wex patrons can enjoy Apple Education Pricing on Macs and Apple software. In addition to in-store sales, we also handle special orders for all Apple products.

  • You can get the edu discount by being a Wexner patron!?  Good to know.

  • I visited the Shady Side Apple store in Pittsburgh..its an area like the Short North. I think retailers look past the thousands of  customers living in the inner city…I would imagine the retail space at Polaris or Easton is more than downtown.

  • Great for Polaris lovers and people who don’t mind growing old in traffic. I think I’ll stick to Easton.

  • Is there an AppleBees close to the Polaris Apple store?

  • AppleBees is a 5 minute walk! Fuck an A!

    Does AppleBees have wifi? :P
