adamcrumart Says: there was way more than 3,000 people. Believe me i worked the door all night. My estimate is 4-5,000 people throughout the day.

Yeah, I'm sure it's tough to figure out exactly how many were there, but I'd assume that many didn't drink beer. I was there early in a group of 5 people, and none of us drank any.

Great job. Great vibe on Friday when I went through, nice to see so much new work. Really loved the life-sized "Apolstle" ... Dan Gerdeman had good stuff, Adam B is always good, Ashley Voss had interesting new stuff. Keep it going.

Thank you to everyone who came out. The vendors, performers, and artists made this a pretty awesome event. The volunteers were amazing as usual and worked tirelessly to make sure the attendees and participants enjoyed themselves as much as possible. I want to give the biggest thanks to our 7 Couchfire interns... who kick more ass than we ever could have imagined.... I'm super proud to have you on our team. And to the Couchfire group, who once again, managed to hold together after a 19 hour day. For those of you attending.. you may not see much of the chaos because these absolutely awesome people know how to set down egos and work together. It is pretty inspiring.

As far as comments on here....

Walker- we are guessing a conservative estimate is set at 3000. (I counted beer cans in our parking lot the next morning and that is what I got)

Anyone wishing it was a two day event-http://www.thecouchfire.org/volunteers.html

Anyone who wants to know about other events-http://www.thecouchfire.org/newsletter.html

Thanks again to everyone who came out.

Preview fri .reg sat and sunday. My friends were really happy with the event i was there from about 4\5 to 12 . So i saw most of the art and bands. I would say it was a really good turnout . Good job.

Yeah i saw people parking on other streets and hitting junctionview from the rear all day long with no thoughts of paying. I also witnessed folks entering through the mural wall in front that was supposed to span from jv to Loeb and left considerable gaps and not to mention those that followed the signs for band load in and walked right in. I think in the long run we get very lucky at these events considering we don't have any security at all or do we have gallery attendants watching artwork. I pray that bugs get worked out before something unfortunate happens on our watch.

@dru You are very correct and the intent of the preview shows is to put money back towards the event and venue. However it is also used to bring in what are the collectors to make purchases before the masses buy works and that is why the service fee applies. I think in the long run more people will show up and more work will sell if the $5 door fee applies to a two day event. Then you will most likely average out on how much the door raises. The number of people through the door on Friday wasn't that large of a number and less of them actually paid. I am thinking more out loud than anything here, but I think we could find ways to extend the events and get the very same support.

@coreroc - we've always viewed the preview as a way to enjoy viewing the art before the crowds are blocking it or leaning against it. [sidebar - i was actually stunned by some of the disrespect I saw for the art on Saturday, people just ran into it and kept on moving. ] sometimes it leads to a purchase, but that cannot always happen. but we've also viewed it as a way to support the venue. $10-20 tix aren't a huge contribution, but given that former Agora's didn't have an entry, we figured it was a way to offer some financial 'thanks' for putting on a great show. although it would be nice to say thanks by actually buying art at every show, we cannot afford that each time. however, i am not sure if enough people pay to attend the preview that it actually helps the bottom line.

yeah i was yelling at people all afternoon who were trying to sneak in around the mural wall. it would have been best to have been painting on the inside rather than towards the street. i know i stopped about 5 groups of people along with nikos and few others. i just hope i didnt come across as an asshole but i was getting frustrated not only with them not paying but they were getting in our way as well.
