5 Stops for Gallery Hop: June 2015

Gallery Hop returns to the Short North today with all the dining, shopping, art browsing and people watching you can handle. Last month’s event was incredibly well attended and June promises more of the same. So once you’re done with the Short North Yard Sale from 9pm to 3pm (don’t forget to check out the new Hubbard Bazaar while you’re at it!) you can stick around for the Gallery Hop action which officially begins at 4pm!

Here’s a couple of ideas for things to check out while strolling the district this month:

    Start with Art

It should go without saying that Gallery Hop is still a great place to check out new artwork when you take the time to stop in the galleries and other creative display venues. There’s a cool new exhibit this month at Rivet from local artist Patrick Wayner worth viewing. The reception runs from 7pm to 10pm, but the work will be on display in the shop all month long. Pop-Up at the Wang Dang Doodle

What the Rock?! is undergoing a transformation this month as Nix Comics takes over the store at 1194 North High and turns it into a pop-up comic book shop for the weekend. Stop in anytime between noon and 10pm for lots of unconventional comic finds from over a dozen artists and publishers. Fore more info, CLICK HERE.

    Try the New Tiki Bar

Tai Tiki officially opened its doors at 1014 North High Street (in the Fireproof Building) a few weeks ago, which means that your Gallery Hop experience can now officially include fruity Polynesian cocktails crafted by folks who formerly worked at The Kahiki. For more info, CLICK HERE.

    Taste some Tequila

On the very south end of the neighborhood, Park Street Cantina will be hosting an annual tequila tasting that is touted as the city’s largest. Over 50 types will be available to try along with dinner, giveaways and more. For more info, CLICK HERE.

    Finish up with Live Music

Not all art at Gallery Hop is visual arts. You can find some great musical artists out to entertain you as well. Two shows on the north end of the district worth checking out this month include a DewDroppers album release party at The Garden Theater and a MojoFlo show at Brothers Drake.
