The Alternative Press Music Awards took place in Columbus on Monday night as some of the biggest, brightest, and not-so young stars of the alt-rock scene descended upon the Schottenstein Center for an endurance-testing five hours of male-led music, banter and a the gifting of a handful of awards.
All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth and Jack Barakat presented the evening that included musical numbers and guest performances from pop-punk vets Good Charlotte, the retiring Yellowcard, noughties rap-rockers Papa Roach and a face-melting cover of Judas Priests “Breaking the Law” from how-the-hell-do-I-describe-this-band BABYMETAL, featuring a guest appearance from the legendary Rob Halford on vocals.
The biggest winners of the evening were Columbus’ own Twenty-One Pilots, who took home both album and artist of the year awards.
Other winners included Yellowcard for the Vans “Off The Wall” Award, You Me At Six for Best International Band, Panic! at the Disco for Song of the Year and Marilyn Manson for the Icon Award.
