    1831 Tavern Has Closed

Columbus Underground was notified last night that the 1831 Tavern (formerly known as The Jury Room, and also known as Balls for a brief period) appeared to be shuttered permanently with the restaurant’s sign painted over in black.

Owner Joe Milano did not yet respond for comment about the news, but local business broker Randy Sokol confirmed last night that he had sold the business for Milano to a new owner. As of this morning, the 1831 Tavern website is still active, but the restaurant’s Facebook page has been taken down.

Milano previous operated Caffe Daniela at 17 South High Street, which closed in 2013.

Update: 11:20am – Owner Joe Milano confirmed that the restaurant is indeed closing.
