April Fools Day: 16-Bit Bar+Arcade Owner Launching Laser Tag Brewpub

The wildly popular 16-Bit Bar+Arcade has already expanded to Cleveland and Cincinnati, and founder Troy Allen is turning his attention back to Columbus for expansion plans in 2015 with the development of a new combination concept featuring a retro laser tag arena and microbrewery bar.

“When we launched 16-Bit in 2013, we thought there was no better pairing than vintage video games and 80s-themed cocktails,” stated Allen. “But we were totally wrong, because strapping on an old-school laser tag vest while sipping a pint of handcrafted local beer is even better.”

Keeping with the theme established by the original Bar+Arcade, the new LaserTag+Brewpub will not feature a brand new state-of-the-art system, but instead a refurbished system that will allow 30-somethings to relive their childhood memories while engaging in an activity that otherwise stopped being fun around the time puberty hit.

“We’ll feature 12 of our own beers on tap upon opening, brewed on a 20 barrel system with five fermentation tanks that will double as cover in the laser tag arena as you scamper through the dark in search of your enemies,” explained Allen. “Our resident brewmaster will also be on hand to help newcomers select the beer that’s perfect for their palate, though no one is likely to be able to hear them over the thumping disco-house soundtrack that will accompany every 15-minute laser tag combat session.”

While the concept is officially out of the bag, Allen is holding off on announcing the physical location until the venue is closer to being ready to open.

“It’s safe to say that the 16-Bit LaserTag+Brewpub will be popping up soon in a currently desolate neighborhood that is certain to become the next thriving nightlife hotspot within a few short years,” he said.
