    14 Bands Not to Miss at FMMF This Weekend

    The first-ever Fashion Meets Music Festival (FMMF) kicks off tomorrow, and features over 100 local, regional and national bands and musicians as well as over 40 fashion designers and brands participating in industry seminars and fashion shows. There’s a packed schedule from 11am on Friday through 1am on Sunday night, which can appear a bit overwhelming at first glance. To help narrow down your selections, we’ve picked out 14 bands to highlight as buzzworthy this weekend. Here they are, in no specific order:

    1. Old Hundred – Voted at CU reader’s favorite local band of 2010, Old Hundred promises a solid folk-rock show at The Basement on Saturday night at 11:30pm.
    2. Cold War Kids – These California indie rockers are arguably one of the most popular national acts putting on a free show in Columbus this weekend. You can catch them at the outdoor stage at McFerson Commons at 9:30pm on Sunday night.
    3. Future Islands – New wavers Future Islands hail from Baltimore, and will be closing out the Sunday night after party at midnight on the outdoor Park Street Stage.
    4. Maps & Atlases – Chicago indie rockers M&A will be up against Future Islands on Sunday at Midnight at the A&R Music Bar. If you’re fast enough, you can check out half of each set with a quick jog in between.
    5. Michelle Williams – Better known one third of Destiny’s Child, Williams is one of the big headliners that will kick FMMF off in style on Friday evening at 5:30pm in McFerson Commons in the Arena District.
    6. Cadaver Dogs – The guys behind Cadaver Dogs are the pure embodiment of rock and roll in Columbus. They’ll be lighting up the Baseman Stage in the middle of Nationwide Blvd at 7pm on Friday, and shutting things down at The Garden Theater on Sunday night at 12:45am.
    7. New Hollow – New Hollow is locally-based (New Albany) but has seen national success even though all three members are still teenagers. They’ll also be kicking the events off on Friday evening in McFerson Commons at 7:45pm.
    8. O.A.R. – Before New Hollow, there was O.A.R., who’s members met in Columbus and went on to achieve mainstream success on a national scale. They’ll also be taking over the McFerson stage on Friday, from 9:15pm to 10:45pm.
    9. RoeVy – The mysterious duo behind RoeVy have been throwing hardcaore dance parties since 2008. Join them for an early afterparty show at Park Street Saloon at 11:15pm on Saturday night.
    10. The Receiver – Another CU favorite, The Receiver was recognized as the best local band in 2009. They’ll be featured on outdoor stage on Park Street on Saturday night at 10:30pm.
    11. Xelle – Dance floor divas Xelle hail from NYC and will bring their brand of dance-pop to Park Street Saloon this Friday night at 9:45pm. Don’t miss it!
    12. The Wet Darlings – Another local favorite, The Wet Darlings will be rocking on Sunday afternoon at the Nationwide & High stage, starting at 5pm. Or, you can get a preview during their Friday night after party show at Brothers Drake at 11:45pm.
    13. Forest & The Evergreens – F&tE won the hearts of CU’ers last year, being named the top local band of 2013. They’ll be performing mid-afternoon on the Nationwide & High stage on Sunday at 2:30pm.
    14. Angela Perley & The Howlin Moons – If you’re a fan of Angela Perley, then you’re in luck. You can get a double dose this weekend, first on Friday Night at the Garden Theater at 10:45pm and again on Sunday at McFerson Commons at 4pm.
