What about just plain, old-fashioned engaging?

Be interesting? Add value, maybe? Hell if I know; still trying to figure that one out myself.

DFox said something once like: ‘tweet something worth the attention of people following you,’ which I thought made sense.

I also think it has something to do with generosity.

(Conversely, it has absolutely nothing to do with talking about the number of followers you have; one of my favorite things is unfollowing people right when they mention they’re on the cusp of crossing some new numeric threshold, number-of-followers-wise.)

Bottom line: I’m not certain there’s a different sent of rules for organizations than there is for individuals. And any time I purport to follow some sort of ‘rule’ I turn around and break it.

It’s like a nuanced Wild West.

(What's the twitter-etiquette behind organizations on twitter anyway?) If you ever put together a list of of local organizations, rather than just celebrity individual twitterers, @wild_goose should be on it.

Ryan, you might wanna talk to @smorty71 re: the @Nationwide twitter account. He's the Social Media Strategist at Nationwide. I believe I follow the majority on this list. But there are definitely a few missing. I'd name them, but I fear I would leave some good folks off. So I'll just name me. @wyliemac.

RE: that inconsequential but humorous stat, I suspect that’s partly due to my own personal rule that I only occasionally break (and usually in response) of making sure not to talk about insurance.

And also that, if you look at @nationwide’s stream, what are they (whoever’s running it; I’d rather be talking to an actual person from Nationwide not ‘Nationwide’) talking about, mostly? Aside from Nascar? Themselves.
